Guest guest
Surprised they discharged me less than 24 hrs post procedure. Dr. Thinks procedure went extremely well; some question of increased reflex from barium swallow. Altogether procedure not as bad as I had thought. No memory of a good hour before procedure nor three hours after procedure. my worst complaints at this time: 1. soar and stiff neck; very painful to lean my neck backwards. 2. pain in shoulders; I understand that this is from left over CO2 in my body. 3. general pain and lightheadedness when I move; not so bad when I sit still. 4. very difficult to " inflate lungs completely. " I do not feel like I am starving for air; but I definitely feel like I am not operating at 100%. 5. difficulty/ inablilty to clear my throught properly/ cough. I am very surprised that: 1. I have had (knock on wood)no spasms as of yet. (I experienced very bad ones after each of my two dialations) (maybe my spasms are caused by tearing and controlled cutting is not so bad...?) 2. Although the insicions look nasty they are not so painful. (worst pain is in the neck and shoulders. Had a low grade fever last night; but seem to have lost it today. I am fighting the pain and walking about with the hope of getting the CO2 out of my body. All in all no regrets as of yet; now I'd just like to become functional again and evaluate my swallowing and or acid reflex on something more substantial than chicken broth and jello. (this is now day 6 of clear liquids, and I am thinking of rebelling and having a campbells soup.) Looks like I lost about 9lbs this week. in Ann Arbor
