Guest guest
I'm sorry I missed the original post somewhere along the way. But, to add to this post. I had one Botox and it sort of worked for a week and was completely useless after 3 1/2 weeks. I also had tremendous pain for the first 3 days. Everyone here calls them spasms. I called my GI doc that injected me and she told me to just keep drinking liquid mylanta or something equal to that. Not chewables, it has to be liquid. It seemed as though the botox worked really good the first couple days. So good it was letting acid shoot right up into my E. So the mylanta helped coat everything. I went through several bottles, but, it got me through. I wouldn't recommend doing that unless you talk to your own doc. though. It says on the mylanta bottle to not take more than blah, blah blah in a 24 hour period and I was way over that. Just my 2 cents worth of my GI docs. instructions. Guest guest
Hi everybody, Just wanted to add my experience with Botox. My crows feet has disappeared......ooops, sorry, wrong treatment. I had A Botox treatment in January. I really didn't feel ANY benefit from it at all. If anything, my spasms increased a LOT! My Dr. wanted to do a second injection 2 weeks after the first, I cancelled. I've been avoiding seeing him since (which isn't easy since I work at the Med School where he teaches). I guess I should pop in and see him this week, we'll see. Bottom line I saw NO relief in swallowing and an increase in spasms. Guest guest
Mike!!!! It's good to hear from you! So you are having botox for the crow's feet too, are you??? I thought you were looking younger! LOL Well, I'm sorry you are having a worse time after the botox and glad you didn't go back for another round... I don't blame you for the avoidance with your doctor and I must say, I have a pretty good visual of you darting in and out of corridors trying to avoid him! hehehe...But all joking aside, maybe you should go see a more specialized doctor instead of going back to the one at med school? Dr. Richter at Temple University wouldn't be too far away would he? Please promise to take care of yourself and let us know what you decide, ok? Hugs, Sandi > > > > , > > My husband can relate to having problems when Botox is wearing > > off. He also has had 3 rounds of Botox (for his DES). The first > one > > worked for about a week. Guest guest
Hey Sandi! Great talking to you today, been waaaaaay too long! Actually the Dr I am seeing now has done quite a few follow-ups on post myotome patients. He has done groundbreaking studies on many gastro disorders and is a pioneer in gastric pacemakers. So, I am gonna stick with him for the time being. P.S. I don't want to jinx it, but he has me trying NuLev for my spasms and so far it is the only thing I've tried in the last few years that seems to offer any relief at all! Guest guest
Mike, It is your body, don't feel bad telling him that you don't want it. Have you concidered the myotomy or have you already had it? > > > > , > > My husband can relate to having problems when Botox is wearing > > off. He also has had 3 rounds of Botox (for his DES). Guest guest
Thanks ! Had my myotomy in Jan of 05. It just didn't take (I'm a GOOD healer, I suspect massive scar tissue!). Guest guest
-Hi Mike, I am sorry to hear that, we all hope to not get that type of news after a myotomy. My surgeon had said to me if it didn't help as much that the next option is often to do it again and cut higher. I know this depends on the situation. Is that a possible option for you maybe? I can appreciate how disheartening it would be to looking back down this path so soon again. I hope they can find a better option for you. I would be a little concerned about too much botox too. -- In achalasia , " Mike " <kc2huv@...> wrote: > > Thanks ! > > Had my myotomy in Jan of 05.
