Guest guest
I have been gone a few and just saw your post.My son is 12 and was Diagnosed with Acahlasia a few months ago.He just had surgery and is in the process of trying to heal but now has to have another procedure done for scar tissue. All of our ordeal is here on the board if you would like to go back and read. There is alot of information given on this board that will come in handy while making your decision on Drs and what route to go with.I didnt find this board till afterwards.Once he was diagnosed it was a pretty fast ordealfor us to to do the surgery.I did some research but not alot-I was referred to a DR that is a specialist out of town, but not as well known as others here have seen.He was kinda the first one we saw and we went with him .Do your research and ask loads of questions about everything to these Drs!!I look foward to reading your post and if you have any questions about our situation please dont hesitate to ask.I will say that Im no Achalasia pro and cant give you medical info but only what we have gone through and our situtaion cause with Achalasia EVERY PERSON IS DIFFRENT IN HOW THERE BODY REACTS AND TO WHAT PROCEDURES WORK FOR THEM AND SO ON.I know you will find this board a God send- I know I have. Just hang in their- it can be overwhelming but there is alot of support here to help you get through it.I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Take care-Tonia Heres a update on - HE is eating alot better and alot more.Hes up from 83 to 87 pounds yippee!! He has had crab legs, thin crust pizza, quesadeias(sp),spaghetti, cookies, today even had a hamburger from Mcdonalds. He wants to try to eat everything-He still has some trouble on certain things(like the hamburger) but he got it down after a while. He wanted to try so.. he did and was happy to eat a hamburger after many months. We kinda knew that with the bread and all it would not be easy. Some days are better than others of course, but all in all hes really coming along.Doesnt get the foamies any more-spasms are minimal(water has still helped with all except one)He is doing AAU base ball camp and hanging with all the fellows who are 115 pounds and more.Hes my lil skinny fellow!Bless his heart-he'll gain weight slowly but he'll soon get there. He goes back for his Boujie dialation on the 14th.I have researched this and sometimes does need to be done because of scar tissue etc.I talked with his Dr and got some info that I wanted and feel completely fine with this now.He said the Boujie is not a ballon dialation like I told yall he was going to do.(my mistake). You guys already know that iM sure. We are ready to get this done so he can get as close to being normal again as possible!!I really believe once the area is opened up he will be so much better. His DR says he cant believe how well hes doing with the food thus far-He said he will see a dramatic change in eating after this.We see how well he is now and know that its going to improve even more afterwards.Thank god hes getting better. There is light at the end of the tunnel!!
