... are you speaking of our Dr. Patti.?? My son has his surgery in May with Dr. Patti. Let me just tell you what kind of man he is. When I was looking for the very best for Cameron (now 15) I called alot of the top men in the field. They all talked to me. But let me tell you. The research I had done, all the JAMA papers, and publish papers kept referring to ... Dr. Rice, Dr. Pellegrini and Dr. Marco Patti. When I did even more research, I found that I liked Dr. Patti's approach. So I called.... well I was talking to his assistant , and he said hold on a minute and handed the phone to Dr. Patti.... wow... wow..wow... what an honor. He was the kindest person.. So soft spoken, knowledgeable, and not afraid to answer the question. Well, needless to say.. He was my sons surgeon.. After visits with him, I loved this big Italian man. On the day of surgery, he showed up wearing a

pink striped shirt with a light blue tie.. you would have thought him to be from the OB dept. He has a very handsome face, a big man, happy, with smiling eyes. He is a very capable man! My son had complications with the lap surgery for his myotomy, which turned into an open... but let me tell you, he is doing wonderfully well. Dr Patti, called, came by, and took the time to visit with us. Such a kind man. If time is what you need? Time is what he will afford you. Oh, did I mention ?? his assistant? He is one awesome guy! He scheduled, and gave me the secrets to San Fran, and told us where to park and not to.. Did I mention that at the last hour, our insurance co. denied the surgery as unneccessary>???? Well was hot on that... He got the head of Healthnet.. the whoevers ... and they had a conference call with Dr Patti and him and straightened them out. Wow...

this guy is awesome too.. Because our situation involved a child (14) we had to have the whole Chief of Pediatrics, Dr Patti and his team , cardios. nuerologists, anesthesiologists, and then the residents, interns, etc,... then double that cause of him being a kid... what a packed room it was. Before surgery I asked Dr. Patti to be the only one to preform the myotomy and fundo, and he assured me he would be. I just Praise God that he was there and that my kid can be here with us because of him and his skill. I asked him if he was a Godly man and to Pray for my kid..Such a wonderful person and a gift to all. Any more questions?? Oh.. this time of year..... San Fran is cold, foggy, rainy, but beautiful from atop the hill in the hospital.. you can see the Golden Gate and Alcatraz! Carolyn mom of Cameron.. myotomized and fundop'd by Dr Patti.. of UCSan F. Half an hour ago Isent an e mail to Dr. Patti, out of UCSF and he has already responded!I decided to contact him because of the PubMed article that Luna sentme a link to (Thank you, Luna!). In fact, he referred to the articlein his response! He said that the long myotomy was used many yearsago and has been abandoned. They are very pleased with the resultsthey obtain from the lap Heller and that overall he feels they haveprobably the largest experience with the treatment of DES in the USA!He said that he would be happy to see my husband for a consult. Thisis so different from what we've heard from others. I don't think mostdoctors/medical centers have much experience with treating DES at all.My husband said he would like to see what Dr. Rice

says first, though. What do you all think? Should we be encouraged by what Dr.Patti has said? I welcome your comments. in c-c-cold Michiganthinking a trip to sunny San Francisco might be a good thing - atleast warmer ;-)
