Guest guest
Hi a, After reading your post I called my nurses; they informed me that " subcutaneous emphysema " i.e crepitus was noted on my post op barium swallow in my neck. (nice of them to tell me this only after I ask...) They said that It is painful and annoying but will dissapate by itself at a rate of about 1% a day. They also said that if I felt the bubbles were increasing in size I should call them immediately... Aside from that just as you described; painful neck, swollen with a definite rice-krispy popping sensation when pressed. How long did it take for your " crepitus " to go away? Did the Drs. tell you that it was a dangerous side effect or just normal? > > > > Surprised they discharged me less than 24 hrs post procedure. Guest guest
, I was in the hospital for 4 days due to some complications, so the docs would check on it a few times a day. By the 3rd day they were pretty much gone. The docs said chances are 20% for this to happen, nothing to be worried about. I'm surprised they didn't tell you, since you do need to monitor. Hope you are still feelilng great! a in St. Louis > > > > > > Surprised they discharged me less than 24 hrs post procedure.
