Hi, sure they talk to you. I remember when I was considering which surgeon for my son, it was important to me to find someone who I could talk to and who would answer my questions to my satisfaction.. Vanderbilt Childrens. (cant remember name) Fuller, pelligrini, Patti, and a one from another med hosp that would have loved to get his hands on my kid. This is the stuff their credentialling is derived from. This is what makes them eligible to be the Chief of Surgery, They are the top dogs, they take care of the unusual ones, you are the subjects of their lectures.. worldwide..You are the "Its It" of the Achalasia world... Oops.. Sorry andrea... wrong ice cream.... Just make sure you have something to say when you get them! I remember when , Dr Patti's assistant handed the phone to him ... I almost died. But I had my notes. Carolyn mom of Cameron in no. So when you first contacted them it wasn't as an existing patient?

I guess I would love the idea of reaching out to them to get their

thought on my situation before setting up some consult appt. Again, I

understand to move forward or get a clear recommendation from them, I

would need to see them.

But just to send a note and say, this is who I saw and this is what is

being recommended, and ask if it's totally out of left field or not

based on their expertise.

To do that over email, and be able to decide who it is worth trying to

go see or not is so great. Otherwise you have to deal with getting

approvals through insurance companies (most of these doctors are NOT

covered, so it's an endless cycle of authorizations), plus the time

off/travel expense, someone to watch the kids, etc.

Granted, it is something that needs to be done, but to touch base with

them and get a feel for their opinion and whether it's worth looking

into would be so great.

Your thoughts?

My thoughts are this: Try... Try ... Try! Don't worry about the isurance issue! If you dont have it... Tell them, they have these wonderful assistance who do amazing things with insurance. We were NOT approved and then rejected the night before leaving for our big trip to SF with Cameron. Had it not be for them... I would have withered and died! If you have had any studies, tell them, Tell them your situation... get the list from the home page and ask them the questions... Start there.. if you feel defeated or that this task is too big... Ask a family member to be an advocate for you! It is really important. Carolyn.. mom to Cameron... tracylb@... wrote: So when you first contacted them it wasn't as an existing patient?
