Guest guest
I had a gastric emptying test at the cleve clinic and I had to eat eggs and toast that they prepared for me and some orange juice. Then they take a picture of your stomach, and then later another and another and then I went over the results with my dr. Which at the time was Dr Richter. Guest guest
That doesn't sound like too tough of a test. I'm sure the eggs, toast and juice are laced with radioactive stuff, but I'm glad it wasn't a grueling test! I know my husband will be happy with that. Thanks for the info, Dawn! in Michigan (already missing what little sun we had yesterday) > > > > We got a letter via FedEx today from Cleveland Clinic. Guest guest
Hello : I had a total of 39 different tests including a brain scan before I was diagnosed. Gastric Emptying Test was one of the easiest. Like Dawn, I had to eat a small amount of radioactive scrambled eggs .. no toast, no juice. Then every 10 minutes for 2 hours, I had to get an xray to see if the food was going into the stomach and if it was passing thru the stomach. At the end of the 2 hours, most of it was still sitting in the E (what a surprise) ... although the radiologist was surprised. I actually have a copy of the test. It was really neat to see your inners all outlined. Once it was done, I took a quick trip to the bathroom and brought it all up! I also had the pulminary function test. That too was a breeze. You blew into a tube several times to measure the air capacity in your lungs. It was very easy, but again I was not having breathing problems at that time. When is your appointment? Hope this helps. Guest guest
Thanks, Kathie! Gastric emptying should be interesting for my husband as well. Often times, he can feel the food bouncing around in his E. He described to me earlier how soup he had eaten today was doing that, after some had actually gone into his stomach (mostly the noodles) and mostly liquid was bouncing up and down. Glad to hear that the pulmonary function test was easy, too. He really doesn't have breathing problems that he knows of. He just wondered where the fluid comes from. My hubby missed his 3rd day of work this week today. I think his E acts up when he's stressed (and he's stressed trying to find a solution for his DES). Or, maybe it's partly because it's Friday the 13th ). His appointments are for Jan. 30th and 31st (ending with the consult with Dr. Rice on the 31st). Now, we have to get our list of questions and description of his symptoms and history ready for Dr. Rice. Have a great weekend! in Michigan > > > > We got a letter via FedEx today from Cleveland Clinic.
