Guest guest
Cause of achalasia.... golden retrievers. There is another achalasia survivor in Houston... who has Goldens also. She doesn't post often anymore. Sandi... they have to be dirty socks don't they? Mine steals them if someone leaves them out. A good day is when you get 3 balls, dirty sock and a squeaky in your mouth all at once. So sorry about your BIL. Also very glad you had good memories of him. We'll count on the 21st or so. Deborah dear dear sweet woman. Quit trying to eat chicken!!!!!! Give it up, it won't work, even deep fried. Nachos work, homemade and baked in the oven. Cheese doesn't work any other way. Oatmeal sometimes works w/ extra butter. If you have a passion for protein... try peanut butter. I know, very gross, but easy to come back up if it doesn't work and you are craving protein. It doesn't stick badly... At least for me it didn't. Never ever ever chicken. Won't work. Pasta doesn't work... very very bad. Even with me now rice can stick until I drink water. Never ever ever rice. Pasta really is bad... no amount of sauce helped me with pasta before myotomy. But never ever ever chicken. Beef even works better than chicken. A full fat crouton sometimes works... or something fatty and crispy like that. Potato chips don't work. At least my experience. Try it with sips of carbonation. Plain sugar cookies work. Dear dear Deborah, that is why surgery is such a preferred option. Then you can usually have chicken. Now... on the big day, do you have people to be with you? I'm not saying I'm available... those two dreaded velcro attached kids of mind are an issue, but we'll all gang up to make sure someone is with you. Can your kids skip a little school? Guest guest
Yes...dirty socks are a must...but with 4 men living in the house and 3 of them between the ages of 14-26...it is not a problem! We pretty much need to buy new socks once a month though unless the boys want to wear socks with holes. What the dogs really like is water bottles...don't know where they picked up this habit but they AlWAYS seem to be able to find a water bottle in just about every corner of the house! Spaghetti was the worst coming up until I managed to find a way to get food to go down. Drinking sweetened tea (not too hot)is what helped relax the LES (prior to surgery)and get the food to go down but it was still a struggle...chicken was alright for me as long as it was cut very very small. And Deborah, even though my myotomy " ought to be " working better now, it is still better than before I had surgery and I don't regret having it. Even having had complications, I was only in the hospital for a week and my recovery was only slightly longer than most...I am sooo much better now than I was...95% to begin with and even though this has dropped (probably to 70-75%), it is still better than prior to surgery. The feelings of euphoria from the wellness you will come to feel post surgery will do wonders for your mental state of mind and a positive outlook for your future! I know it is difficult, but try to relax and know we are here to offer our support and caring friendship! Let me know if I can help out. I will be coming down that way visiting, and I picked that week for a reason!
