Guest guest
I'm so sorry to hear of your ordeal! I'm not an expert, either, but I would think the abscess could possibly be from aspirated food. Going septic is a MAJOR deal! I'm so glad you survived it! I'm sure it will take a long, long time to get your strength back. My mom went septic 5 years ago (in her 70's) and it tooks months for her to get back to speed! I know that will be frustrating, to be patient with yourself for that long. With my mom we were just very grateful that she survived. Maybe just being glad to have improved and be out of the hospital will help you while you're re-gaining your strength! Good luck! in Michigan
Guest guest
Many thanks for the encouragement, . You're right that those of us with achalasia are at risk of lung abscesses due to aspirated food. I hadn't realized, though, that the diagnostic procedures we go through so often could also be a source of this nasty problem. I had been more worried about perforation. Sorry to hear that your mother had to cope with being septic. This IS a big deal, as both you and I have discovered, eh? I am practicing my patience skills, since it definitely will take weeks for me to be thoroughly better. Hope you all have had a healthy start to 2006. > > I'm so sorry to hear of your ordeal!
