Do you mean North Van, BC??? If so, where have you been all this

time? J We just had a meetup in Horseshoe Bay on Wednesday night. We had a great

time, and met from Ontario,

who is here for the Ironman! (Go Go!!) If you are from the North Van

that I’m thinking of…who are your surgeons? GI’s? I’d

love to know the process’ that you’ve been through and with whom. You’d

be a great addition to our meetup group!

and yes I live in North Vancouver BC. I have been here all the time.

Though just found this group through help of a very special person.

I use Dr. Hahn, as my GI who is in North Vancouver, and my Thoracic

surgeon is Dr. Finley who is in Vancouver. I have had many

many dilations since 1990,in fact too many to remember. I have also

gone through all of the swallowing tests that you can have, and also

endured the wonder Berstien test on 3 separate visits.In 1995 I had

the Heller myotomy surgery.

I have Achalasia,Barrett's,and Esophageal dysmotility with the

absence of peristalsis,and you can add dysplasia as well. I have

tried all the past and present medications for my acid reflux. I sill

have problems with reflux, and have fatigue from broken sleep caused

by the burning and chest pains we all know so well.

In 2004 I went to the Mayo clinic in sdale AZ.They have a

building designed for just GI problems. They have a wonderful team of

experts on all these diseases. I myself saw Dr. Monte L .

Never have I every seen or deal with better people in my life.Very

professional, caring and understanding of our needs. They believe in

treating the whole person, just not the disease.

At present the only thing left for myself is to have an

esophagectomy. Both Dr. Finley and myself have agreed that at this

time it is not warrant. Hope this explains a little of what I have

gone through. Please feel free to ask anything, and if I can help

anyone at anytime just let me know.
