Guest guest
Dear ... I have a child with achalasia. During my research period, I came across a web page and group for parents of children with swallowing issues. Babies when born do not have the spincter control at the lower esoph spincter. The flap is open and begins to close at birth. The baby who burps after nursing, and erps with it, is the baby that is having problems with the spinc. closing. Usually by the time they are ready for solids, at 6-10 months this issue has resolved. Some kids it does not. These children frequently have alot of problems with eating, as soon as the tummy is full, and they are rolling around or laid down for naps they begin to have food moving back into the E. With the achalasia, the spincter is closed... usually no acids. If the baby has acid in the food, then it is more of a reflux situation. if it smells clean and just like out of the jar or what ever... it is a lower E. situation. The doctor who assisted in my sons myotomy and fundoplication specializes in this... have a look at http://www.reflux.org/ this is a site for parents, and there are alot of parents here! I would be glad to help you further Carolyn --- jenn_spiess wrote:> I'm seeking answers for my 26 month old son. He has> reflux & > dysphagia with aspiration & is on thickened liquids> & prevacid.
