Guest guest
At what point do you go to another doctor? As soon as possible if you feel that uncomfortable. I had a very wise physician friend tell me once that I should always trust my instincts in these matters. I pass on his wisdom. , take a few minutes today to call the major teaching hospitals in Houston. Baylor is one I have heard of. Does Rice have a med school? Ask for their GI departments and then when you get a receptionist there, ask who in their department deals with swallowing disorders and Achalasia specifically. Ask how many cases they see/year. Keep going until you find one you feel good about. Do the same if you feel she needs a repeat surgery (very possible, it sounds like ). Call the laproscopic surgery departments and ask if they can remove a wrap and if they do Heller myotomies. Ask if anyone has ever done both at once? Ask if they can do it laproscopically or if it would require an open procedure. Please keep us posted and thanks for taking such an interest. I know my husband cares, but I have had to educate him....how awesome that you are educating yourself for your wife. Cindi in PA
