Guest guest
Leaves the rest of us wondering what Dr. Gluck's diagnosis is. What is botox used to treat besides 'A'? Guest guest
Hi , Dr. Gluck sounds like a doctor you DO NOT want to see again. Him pushing botox on you, then telling you he’s never heard about the scarring and making surgery more difficult is either plain stupidity or ignorance. Either way, you don’t want either. Give this Dr. Pellegrini a try. Sometimes stepping on toes is what it takes. I’ve been there. Don’t give up on your diagnosis until you’re confident that the doctors are confident. It may take a while, but you’ll get there. Take care! PS: You’re from WA, right? If you’re interested, we’re having a Vancouver Achalasia meetup on April 10th. You’re welcome to join us if you’re up to a bit of a drive J We’d love to meet you! Well, I guess it's on to a third opinion Well my appoint. today was interesting, I'm still not sure what to think. I walk in for my second vist with Dr. Gluck, he says you don't have achalasia, but he keeps talking botox. I think this Dr. must do a lot of the botox injections, I brought up about the scaring and making surgery more difficult, and he said he hasn't heard that. He wanted to do another endoscopy, I just had one in December, and than started talking the botox again. So I told him than that I had also e mailed Dr. Pellegrini with my manometry numbers, and the fact that my UGI doesn't show the enlarged E or the birds beak. I told him Dr. Pellegrini, had said that some of my manometry is consistant with A and some of it isn't. Well as soon as I mentioned another Dr. I could tell that I steped on his toes. He was still polite, but pretty much said, go see Dr. Pellegrini. He also said I need another endoscopy and manometry, and I might as well have it done there, because if I end up with Dr. Pellegrini they would want to repeat all of that at there own facility. Well that part made sense, but I really felt like I got the brush off. To make matters worse, I think all my husband heard was you don't have achalasia, so he just couldn't get it that I was unhappy with how the visit went. I guess thats why I usually don't take him to the Dr.'s with me. Thanks for letting me vent! in WA
Guest guest
Cindi, Hold on - this guy (and I could be wrong) could be making a fortune out of botox procedures. What on earth do you need another endoscopy for in so short a time ? More money spent for what? Dr Pellagrini is after all a famous specialist in A and honestly I would go there as fast as I could get there and leave Dr Botox to stew. The fact that he was uncomfortable that you asked for another opinion says a lot. Make hubby read some of the posts - print a copy for him and let him read - if he won't then you just go ahead and see who you want to see -after all it is your E and your future.
