Guest guest
Hello hephzibah62@..., In reference to your comment: my husband who has A wanted me to pass along a tip that he has recently discovered when eating. PEPPERMINT CANDY! He eats candy canes before he eats and he has found this totally helps him in swallowing food. try it. maybe it will work for you. Ruth, thanks for posting this. I recall a couple years back there was some discussions in this group about how peppermint worked for others. I have read articles, especially regarding GERD, saying that peppermint among other things relaxed the LES. If that is true then it is in surprising that peppermint might relax the LES to allow our food to go through. It will probably, like most other things, depend on the person and stage of Achalasia. This has been a good reminder and we've had many new members since this topic was discussed. Thanks for posting, Maggie
