Guest guest
Hi, to answer some of your questions.. I do not have IBS but secondary to having Achalasia, I have a lazy stomach for about 4 years now. I have had A for 12 years. Pre and Post surgery I seemed to have a lot of chest pain which I guess is spasms in the esoph. Yes it is very painful. I have never linked any of my other problems to anything having to do with A. I just feel like it is part of my life now. I swallow pretty OK. BUT I feel like I have more trouble in the summer months. And I have to stick to a low bulk diet for my stomach. My open heller was in 1993 and I have had 3 Dilitations since. They help for a period of time. The menstrual thing I have never noticed, but who knows. I had 2 normal pregnancies after my surgery (one before I was diagnosed)and swallowed great the whole time. I was trying to recover from my surgery in 1993 when I realized 3 weeks later I wasn't sick from food..I was expecting. WHOA! I think that was GOD saving my life because I HAD to eat. I at first didn't want to gain weight. I was getting sick in the head. A is just one big pain in the butt. PERIOD. Hope some of my rambling relates to someone.
