Guest guest
HI All - because of my pregnancy - have I mentioned how huge I'm getting?? lol I have had increasing spasms including some rough nights with hours of spasms and vomiting - not usual for me. So I went to the GI yesterday and he gave me a prescription for Nulev. I know several people have taken it - thoughts/ opinions?? He told me it shouldn't affect my blood pressure and cause me the same side effects the nitro and nifedipine were causing but I'm naturally concerned. He told me about the dry mouth but then the pharmacist told me I could get dizzy or have blurred vision. Anyone else have experience with this? Also, since I'm on it - I know several here take gaviscon for spasms but there are several who don't like it. Have we ever done an informal poll to determine why it works for some and is bad for others? For instance, I can't do carbonation, I prefer hot fluids for spasms, I do have some reflux but no real difficulties swallowing. Anyone similar have good and or bad experiences with it? Happy Swallowing!! -michelle in VA.
Guest guest
Hi in VA, Firstly, thanks for all your posts to the group. I love reading your emails because they are so informative and postive. Just great posts to read! I have never tried Nulev, so I’ll just read up on that one….I have used xstrength Gaviscon a few times for spasms. 2 out of 3 times it worked almost immediately for me, and once not at all. It turns into a nasty consistancy in your mouth, so I know why it says take with water….yuck!! I don’t really know why it works or doesn’t work…. I am sure Joan will though… (hint, hint, Joan! J ) Something to do with the texture, and coating the E…? It works horribly for some as it floats in the E for some. It is all about trial and error, I guess? Talk to you soon! Guest guest
Hi , I've been taking NuLev for about 6 months as needed. The only side effect I've experienced is dry mouth. It has been a wonder drug for me. I'm also taking Procardia 3 times a day. Most of the time the Procardia keeps spasms from happening, but every now and then one sneeks up on me and NuLev does the trick. NuLev is basically the same thing as Levsin. From what I understand, NuLev is just packaged differently. It dissolves better and tastes better too. Good luck. Guest guest
Thanks a gastro doctor prescribed Levsin. It has been in the shelf several years. Now I understand. I am not sure if I have spasms or heartburn or both. I been trying sauerkraut that's right kraut! So far no heartburn or spasms. It reduces acids in the stomach. So far it is working better than Previcid, three weeks without heartburn.I have a friend who swears by his Previcid. Re: NuLev Hi ,I've been taking NuLev for about 6 months as needed.
