Mike,

I know you directed this post to but I'm responding to some of

your concerns.

I'm not sure why you had such a bad time recovering for your last

myotomy. I had mine done laporscopically this past February 2004 and

my recovery was not that bad. It did hurt to breathe (deep breaths)

for the first week or so and I was giving a breathing exerciser to

help. My instructions for lifting was nothing more than 5 lbs for 2

weeks. By the 10th day, I was feeling much better. If your not sure

what to do, it might be a good idea to get a second opinion. I

wouldn't wait too long as A is a progressive disease and it's

probably not a good idea to wait until it's beyond treatment...other

than esophageal removal. Just my opinion.

Good luck. I know it's tough making decisions like this.

,

Thanks for your opinion. It seems that most posts say the

myotomy wasn't terrible. I don't think I'm that wimpy!, but maybe I

am. I guess if I look past the surgery/recovery cycle, I really do

want to be 'as good as I can be'.

They did have me use a breathing excerciser as well. I learned

to hate that thing. I'm sure it helps, but I considered it

torture! I suppose removal is even worse - I know some here have

had that procedure.

Hi ,

Thanks for the response. You really amaze me! I guess I can't

imagine (tho I should probably start!) going thruough life attached

to Gaviscvon or other such remedies. I think I'll do this again,

but I'm not looking forward to it. I did look forward to the 1st

surgery, thinking that would be IT. Little did I know....

I am sooo glad the election's over! Talk about stress - not the

candidates themselves, but putting up with all those commercials!!

Mike
