Hello everyone just wanted to let you know i am back from preop

appointment all went well i guess .They checked my heart and did a

chest xray and the usuall blood work. The part I found odd is i was

informed i would have to wear sugical stockings for the first few

days which i will be charged 30 dollars for . Has anyone else had

to wear them i do not recall anyone in the group saying they had and

i have no idea as to why they wanted them even the nurse was

surprised when she read it on my chart. So I guess it is a go for

Nov 12 I am scared but at the same time i can not wait to becaome

somewhat nomal when eating again . Keep smiling Penny

I had the

things that push air though. Like big blood pressure cuffs but on my legs. My

insurance covers them.

Hi Penny,

The socks help to gaurd against blood clots in the legs. I have worn them in

every surgery I have had.

Penny,

Great news, Penny! Glad to hear that everything went well at your pre-op and the op is scheduled for the 12th. It won't be long now, till you will be eating better and feeling better too. Try not to get too nervous, It'll be better soon!

Hugs,

Jan from Northern KY

Sherri - it seems to depend on the surgeon and the hospital - there are other who have had to wear them and others who had fluidised air leggings for a few hours post-op. I did not have anything and I am rather glad because I hate those stockings but that is a personal thing. They are to stop clots forming in your legs, and are usually covered by your insurance.

Hi, yes I had to wear surgical stockings for all my myotomy surgeries. They put these plastic boots on your legs that inflate and deflate. The reasoning is to not get blood clots since you are not at moble.

Hi Penny! Glad to hear that your pre op

has gone well. Not too much longer now….about those stocking: When I

was rolled into the operating room, they put these weird things on my legs as

well. I think they were inflatable (?). Yes, I think they were… can’t

remember exactly…. When I woke up, I remember kicking my legs, as I didn’t

remember what they were. The nurse came in, and un-velcroed them, and took

them off. She told me they were for circulation. I don’t know if these

are the same thing you were talking about. I was not charged for them

directly, as our system is different here!

Good luck, Penny! I can’t wait for

you to be eating “normal” again, like me!! Take care!!

ya know the one odd thing i thought was weird when i went to me

preop , is that after they did the endoscope the lady pulled the

tube out faster then i could even see... yea that made me back of me

throat sore in one spot for a couple days.. one would think it was

just cause you had a tube down your throat , but i felt when she

yanked it .. curious if anyone else has had the same thing .

Were you not asleep when they did the Endoscopy ? They usually have you under deep sedation and you don't know anything until you are back in recovery. Or are you confusing it with a manometry? Just curious, as it is rather unusual in this day and age to have you awake for an endoscopy.
