Guest guest
Hi Kim, Glad your finally scheduled. I had my esophagectomy at KU and was treated well, however the surgeon I had is no longer there. I have slept on a wedge pillow that is 14 " high and slopes down to about the middle of you back. It took some getting used to, but I rarely have reflux problems, when I do it is because I ate something to close to going to bed. I try not to eat anything after dinner. I was told not to eat anything 4 hours before you lie down. The main symptom I had, the only time I had pneumonia, was extreme shortness of breath. F Finally! Surgery scheduled. > > > Hey all, > > I haven't posted much lately, just watching those with more > experience helping out other new guys and gals like me. > > But I wanted to come share my good news! Guest guest
Hi Kim! YEAH!! Another with surgery scheduled! I am SOOO happy for you! I remember what that day was like. I was on such a high when I found out. It is a great feeling. Even though you won’t be eating Christmas dinner, you’ll have a great gift! Your swallowing will be back soon! JJJ As for the sleeping reclined… I bought one of those pillows with the arms. A husband pillow, I think Cindi calls them. I used that for a little while before my surgery, and for the week after my surgery. It worked to keep me elevated, but got and “F” in comfort. I did not sleep well with it. I hope you find some relief for it soon! Take care, and keep us posted!
Guest guest
Hi Kim, Glad for you that you have date at last ! Will be thinking of your - good wishes. Hugs, Joan Finally! Surgery scheduled. Hey all,I haven't posted much lately, just watching those with more experience helping out other new guys and gals like me. But I wanted to come share my good news! I finally got my heller's scheduled. I'll be headed over to KU MED (University of Kansas Hospital) on December 21st. Could happen at a sooner time. Nights are horrible and I've not been feeling well for a couple of weeks now.I have a question for those of you who sleep elevated: how do you do it comfortably? I've been waking up almost every night choking, so I usually just grab my pillow and head out to our recliner chair. I've also tried an extra pillow pushed up against the way, but neither way is comfortable at ALL and I'm getting pretty cranky with lack of quality sleep.I'm wondering if I'm starting to come down with my first case of pneumonia... What symptoms should I be looking for? I'm just not feeling all that healthy these days.My one meal that I'd always been able to eat with no problems (morning cereal) is now a problem. I haven't had a problem-free meal in weeks now, so I'm thrilled that my surgery is only a week and a half away! Thanks for whoever posted Dr Moncure on the physicans list. Guest guest
, Thanks. I'm super happy to finally get a date, and the fact that it's CLOSE made me even happier!! I couldn't care less about Christmas dinner. We never do a big thing anyway. Plus, I ate like a pig on Thanksgiving, so I'm good for awhile. So what if it took me three times as long as anyone else. *laugh* Kim in KS > Hi Kim! > > > > > > YEAH!! Another with surgery scheduled! I am SOOO happy for you! I > remember what that day was like.
