A physician recently told me that they are working on making silicone band aids that minimize scarring. He said you can make your own using a glue gun. You squirt the glue (silicone) onto the pad of a bandaid, let it cool a bit, then put it over the scar. Keep doing it until the scar minimizes, changing it each day. It can't hurt you, so it is worth a shot. While working on the addition to our home, I realized that the caulking my husband was using in the bathroom was 100% silicone. I asked my friend if I could use that & he said yes. I smeared some on my scars & let it solidify for a minute. I am allergic to everything & have had a bit of irritation from it, but I did it for a week & could see some difference. I'm going to try again now that I'm back home. The nice thing about the "caulk-type stuff" is that you don't need a bandaid on it. Just check at Lowe's & look for "100% silicone". Sounds nuts, but if it doesn't work, you'll be ready for home repairs! lol!
