My daughter is a sophmore in h.s. and is a beginning french horn player. She started last year as a freshman when she wanted to be in her h.s. band. The band dir. didn't have any french horn players,and asked her to try it, so he gave her the old horn they had and she loved it right away. This year, they got a new french horn just for my daughter to continue to learn on, ( wow, this one has a spit valve!), and she has been taking private lessons weekly from a lady who teaches at a local college, Northern KY University. She is hoping to audition for a state honors band this January. I should have mentioned that she played piano for the past 7 yrs, but the french horn is really her one true love!
