Hi Tracey, Good luck with 's speech he will be getting. Every success

is worth celebrating and we all know the feeling.

We have a lot of allergies in the family and excema is the result of allergy

most of the time. I would try taking off of the ProEFA for a week and

see if the excema clears up. Fish is a common allergen. I was taking

coromega and got cold symptoms. When I read the label I found out it had egg

in it and I am very allergic to egg. Now I take ProEFA along with my

granddaughter. Just a suggestion Tracey.

Take care, Grammy Patty

Hi Tracey!

Great news about the school and the therapy! I believe great news is

universal-we all love to experience it, and hear about it too!

Onto other universal subjects- like eczema-I guess (unfortunately) I can

share here too. When we started Tanner on ProEFA about 5 months ago,

his eczema went away -for good it seems- for the first time in his

four little years.

Tanner was on other fish oil supplements before ProEFA, like Efalex,

and he still had mild eczema. I heard it's the borage oil (Omega 6)

in the ProEFA that helps with skin conditions. In comparison to the

amazing speech surges, the mild eczema was not something that I

really cared about as much, (or even talked about) but Glenn, who

also has eczema noticed it. Before ProEFA, Glenn would take vitamins

once in a blue moon. I'm shocked that Glenn now takes the ProEFA

everyday-and nobody reminds him. He does because he noticed if he

stops taking the ProEFA, his eczema comes back.

Which brings me to the best advice I've heard for people who believe

this or that may be attributed to fish oil supplementation-and this

is from Dr. Agin...if you wonder if (fill in the blank)...then stop

giving your child the ProEFA / fish oil, and see if the changes

stop. Of course she gave this advice for all of you that wondered if

your child would have just started talking anyway during that one to

3 week period. As you know, that's the most common effect of

ProEFA. Most of the parents did not want to stop to find out she

laughs and says on the Dr. Sheppard video (which you will see soon)

One thing that Dr. Katz (http://www.omega3ri.org )said could happen,

which is why clinical trials are so important, is that once a child

starts supplementing with fish oil (even though it's really something

that's been in the human diet for ages-it's different than Mcs)

every change may be attributed to the fish oil-which may or may not

be scientifically accurate.

Back to universally great and amazing things though, I also

loved reading the quote by Louis Hay that wrote. My cousin

just illustrated Louis Hay's latest book Heal Your Body A-Z by

Louise L. Hay, designed by Blue Design published by Hay House -you

can see it if you click on " books " on the side leaf at 's

website http://www.susangross.com

Talk to you guys later-I'm off to a school art show and a 40th

birthday get together after that!

, I hate to be dumb about this, but i just joined this group this week.

Can you give me the basic 1, 2, 3's on how to begin this ProEFA ( I don't

have a clue what this stands for}. My 4 1/2 year old is non-verbal but very

vocal and frustrated, as are we. I am willing to go to the moon for her, but

this sounds easier. I have the LCP Solution book on order to hopefully

help, but I don't want to have to wait until I can read it to get started.

Is this stuff you can buy locally or is it order only. I can't find a

pediatrician to take five minutes of time to speak to my daughters struggles

( and we have been to at least seven so far) yet alone be open minded or

knowledgeable about these interventions.

I have been all over the autism groups, but have recently been rerouted by a

neurologist, and this group seems to really be the more appropriate place

for my daughter. Any help? Thanks, Tara.

Tracey, I have not heard of anyone having an increase of eczema with ProEFA,

but fish oil supplements can cause an increase in bumpy dry skin if there are

not adequate antioxidants in the diet. Maybe you could try adding more

Vitamin E (d alpha tocopherol) to your child's daily intake. It helped when

my son had skin dryness and bumpiness while on fish oil supplements.

Also, I wanted to mention that eczema can be caused by fluoride. If I

understand correctly, the water in London is fluoridated. You might want to

check into reducing your child's fluoride intake. I'll post some links below

where you can learn more. Fluoride can also inhibit enzymes necessary for

the proper utilization of fatty acids in the brain and nervous system. My

own son's health and behavior improved immensely when we stopped bathing him

in fluoridated water, stopped using fluoridated toothpaste and stopped using

fluoridated water for drinking and cooking.

I know fluoride has had alot of positive 'press', but as we have all learned

by now, we have to do our own thinking. We can't wait for others to spoon

feed us if our children are going to recover and live normal lives. I don't

mean to be insulting by saying this. I was myself once content to believe

what the dentists were telling us about fluoride until it made my family

sick. I've learned alot about the subject since then, the hard way. If

fluoride is necessary at all, which is highly debatable, we get far more than

enough from the food supply which has ever increasing amounts of fluoride due

to processing with fluoridated water and use of fluorides as pesticides.

Also, some of us are more sensitive than others. I myself suffered from

hives, allergic rhinitis, asthma, chronic fatigue, joint and muscle pain

until I finally identified the fluoride in our tap water as the cause. I no

longer suffer from ANY of these ailments. The only 'treatment' that was

necessary to perform this miracle was moving to a non-fluoridated community

and stopping the use of fluoride toothpaste.

I encourage all parents of apraxic children to educate themselves on this

toxic substance which is being promoted as a dental prophylactic, and which

our children are being exposed to at every turn.

Good luck,

fluorides occasionally cause skin eruptions such as atopic dermatitis,

I never realized that fluoridated water could have anything to do with fatty

acid absorption -- can you direct me to a source on this? I do use a water

filter but it only gets rid of about

75% of the fluoride. I found it interesting how my son's dentist kept saying

how beautiful my son's teeth are, he kept saying " No white spots. " It's my

understanding that those white spots

are caused from *too much* fluoride so perhaps in filtering I was and still am

getting out just enough fluoride. Diane

Fluorides are potent enzyme inhibitors. It takes at least five enzyme

conversion steps (my understanding is that the research on this is not

complete so there may be more) to convert the fatty acids in most foods to

the long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids needed for normal nerve and brain

tissue formation and function (eg. DHA, EPA). Thus the consumption of

fluorides can have obvious implictions for brain and nervous system

development.

I had a serious problem with brain fog when I was still drinking and bathing

with fluoridated water, so I have experienced how profoundly fluoride can

affect brain function first hand. My short term memory was almost

non-existent. It was pretty scary stuff. But it did give me some insight

into how it was affecting my son, thank goodness.

Watch out for filtration because many filters don't remove fluoride at all,

or only remove it when the filter is still relatively new. When I lived in a

fluoridated area my reverse osmosis membrane had to be replaced every two

months to keep the fluoride level to .2 ppm or less, which is the normal

amount for surface water in the US. Also, keep in mind that studies have

shown that approximately 2/3 of the contaminants in water actually enter the

body through the skin. We found that bathing in fluoridated water caused a

behavior in our son commonly called 'stimming'.

This webpage provides a partial listing of studies which have been done on

the effect of fluorides on brain lipids with abstracts.
