I am concerned with stretching and other damage from leaving it for so long.I feel that stress plays a MAJOR role in my symptoms. The only problem I have now is the sleeping at night-but that is mostly eleviated by the wedge pillow. However, if I am under alot of stress it doesn't always help. I am now experimenting with Valerian root. I must say that stuff smells terrible! but if it works I will try anything.Anyone, please write back to let me know if you have not had any treatment

either._________________________________________________________________Designer Mail isn't just fun to send, it's fun to receive. Hi - I have had treatments so I can't help you there but I did

try some Valerian for awhile and did find it very relaxing, however,

it does increase parastalsis so I had to quit using it because it

made my spasms worse.

You may want to try camomile and I've also used and herb called

Scullcap - that seems to help.

Hi!

I'm 27 years old and have had achalasia since June 1998

I've never been treated - even underwent pregnancy, gave birth at

home etc.

Over the years I've been getting regular acupuncture treatments,

have done Rolfing, Ayurveda etc.

I must say that it has gotten better!

There was a time when I could only eat 2-3 bites of food and no

matter how much I drank the food would not go down.

I also used to wake up with terrible heartburn and coughing and

water gushing out of my nose.

I can now eat a regular size meal - I do have to drink plenty of

water. There are times I'll only need one to two cups and then I'll

have phases where I'll have to drink a Liter of water.

All in all it has gotten better and I believe it's because of the

Acupuncture, Yoga, Psychotherapy and various other " alternative "

healing methods I've applied.

The results happended very gradually. Actually so slow that I often

thought that nothing was working. But if I see how far I've come

since June 98 - well it's a world of difference!

I believe that this can be healed! If people can learn to use

paralyzed arms and legs a little valve can be healed I'm sure!

The German achalasia group which I've visited had a lady who has

been healed. She had undergone 2 balloon dilations. The first

worked, but soon the symptoms started coming back.

The 2nd dilation didn't bring any results. She went to a

Gastroenterologist who is also trained in chinese medicine and

naturopathy - she underwent treatment 1-2 a week for 6 weeks and is

now completely symptom free!

I'm planning on seeing him when I visit my family in Germany next

year.

I'll be sure to keep all up to date on the results.
