Guest guest
Hello Everybody! Ready for the next page of updates?? Hahaha So, after my visit to my family doc, and he said he couldn’t help, I had enough. It is ridiculous that I have found a surgeon, but the government won’t pay for it. I thought about emailing/contacting some higher power, and Maggie convinced me. THANK YOU MAGGIE! I sent an email to my local MLA. (Member of Legislative Assembly) He is our provincial representative. I sent the email through at 3:50, briefly explaining my situation. I questioned whether there were any exceptions to the rule of not going out of province. At 3:51, he replyed back. I expected an automatic response. I open it up, and all it asked for my phone number. (oops, should have added that in the first email!) I replyed with my numbers. All of them. I left work at 4:00, and within 10 minutes of getting home, he called me!! I couldn’t believe it. He told me he couldn’t find much info on A, and had never heard of it. I told him most doctors hadn’t either. He asked if I could come to his office today, and sign some paperwork. Of course! The papers are my consent for my doctors to release info on me, etc to his office. He said he can’t guarantee anything, but that he will do his best to help me get to Calgary, as long as I was willing to pay the expenses to get there! We are working on that part with the help of some friends, etc! I can’t believe that I actually did that. Emailing a government rep, I mean. I am shocked. This group has pushed me to seek the best help possible, and stick with an experienced surgeon. Without you all I would be sitting in line for 3 years, drinking ensure… but I am stating my case, and seeking out help. I will get it somehow. Thank you everyone… will continue to keep you posted. Guest guest
Hi Maggie Thanks again for that post yesterday. It had tons of info. I had briefly checked most of that info before, but could never really find exactly what I needed, ya know? I am glad I have had lots of support from people here, and so many people to bounce ideas off of, as well as lots of people like you, who have given me ideas. It is wonderful. I will never forget this group, and the help they have provided. I will keep on pushing…. J
Guest guest
Hey ! I know! I am sooo excited to have him on my side. When he called, I felt like I was talking to someone famous, because he is always in the papers, etc. I am really holding out hope now, that something will work out for me… sooner than 3 years! This group is soo great for support. I am proud at what I have done, but know it is not on my own. It is with great persistance from you all, and seeing that some of you have had to jump through hoops, as well. I just hope all this mess means that recovery will be perfect… Keep your fingers crossed for me! I just hope I don’t have to do too much more of this work that you’d figure the doctors would do for me.
