Guest guest
Hi, Joan, Very interesting post! I am familiar with kinesiology technique. I also have a friend who is deadly accurate with it. When the doctors could not find anything wrong with my baby grandson, who was having spells of screaming as if in pain, I put him in my car and drove him to her home, in desperation. Using his energy responses, she correctly determined he had a severe soy allergy. He is 3 now, and still cannot tolerate the slightest bit of soy without going crazy. I am no longer as sceptical as I used to be!! Your friend's strong negative response to copper using this testing could be a big clue to the mystery of her thinning hair. And remember that copper can become elevated in the body in many ways, or a combination of them. Your slight response could indicate copper is playing at least a minor role in your achalasia. And again, it could be elevated through several means, not just your water. A high soy or seafood diet or just a multi-vitamin with too much copper in it can elevate levels over time. Also, the copper:zinc ratio needs to be in balance. Zinc demand goes up during stressful times (like when your'e sick, say with a virus!), so it can easily become depleted in the body, which can throw the copper:zinc ratio off. It sounds like you drank wonderful water, and I would think that water anywhere near a source of dolomite lime would be very alkaline. BUT water that is highly acidic OR highly alkaline can leach copper from pipes. Water anywhere near neutral Ph doesn't leach copper at all. So the issue is the Ph of water, not just the presence of copper pipes. They are not the problem in themselves. So one would wonder if your borehole water may have been too alkaline...do you remember any bluish stains on the fixtures in the bath or sinks? (you only see stains if it is hideously high in copper) How long have you had achalasia?? Where were you living at the time you first noticed it? Is it worse at some times than others? I haven't really checked into a viral connection here. But I would be interested to know what level of chickenpox cases your children had. Mine all got chickenpox twice. The first time was very mild. Then when they were all (4) older they got the worst cases I have ever seen.(And my kids were all high in copper, though we didn't know it then) One beautiful daughter was 17 when she got them and she had over a hundred pox on her face. Thankfully she didn't get more than 20 scars. One turned into a keloid. You are making me wonder if there may be a copper/chickenpox connection??? Anybody else out there think copper or virus have played a role in their swallowing problems??? Must run, Martha Martha - copper sensitivity Hi Martha, I sent the article on copper toxicity you posted to my physiotherapist, Sue Mc Call, who is knowledgeable about all sort of things I know nothing about. Her husband (an American) is a doctor of Chinese medicine and acupuncture. She found the article interesting because no one has been able to explain to her why she is loosing her hair so fast. She got her husband to test her for copper sensitivity using kinesiology technique and a small piece of copper pipe. She was shocked to see how badly she reacted to the copper. No one else in her household has had the same reaction. She then tried it on me this morning and I reacted slightly. Our control - her receptionist - did not react at all. She is now going to try and find someone to test for copper toxicity with the methods mentioned in the article. I am not sure how kinesiology works - something about the balance between the body's magnetic fields - I shall have to find out but with this she has accurately identified all my allergies which were known from previous lab testing. It is all most curious and interesting. She knows she is dealing with the great sceptic, but I have learned to trust her and she is not often wrong. As for 'well water' - we have what are known as 'boreholes' which tap into a deep underground vein of water. These are the main source of water for farms and small villages. When I was a child we used borehole water until I was about 8 years when we got 'town water' - this was purified water from a nearby river. Borehole water comes from deep in the dolomite rocks that are the main feature of our countryside in this region. The water is particularly pure and tastes beautifully sweet and refreshing. It does contains a fair amount of lime so is considered 'hard water'. I moved to Johannesburg when I was 17 and have been here almost ever since ( apart from a year or two in Europe and further up in Africa). The water in this large area comes from the Vaal river and is purified at a plant outside of the city. I have actually been there and they claim to have water purer than most cities elsewhere in the world. They have a tank of Guppies (tropical fish) which will die if there is the slightest impurity in the water. So who knows - all the water piping is indeed copper piping. Perhaps there is a link with this and viral infection. I have had two bad viral infections. I got a very bad enterovirus infection just before I had my first pregnancy and that resulted in what would today be called 'yuppie flu'. It took me ages to recover. Then when my children had chickenpox I had it as well - badly. I have also has Shingles which is a reactivation of the chicken pox virus....which is a likely candidate. All very curious. Guest guest
Martha, Most interesting ! I am sensitive to soy so avoid it and while I love sea food don't eat much of it - a piece of white fish every other week is about all with the occasional feast of prawns. We do eat mostly red meat ! As for vitamins - I am not a pill person - so have not really taken many multivitamins but did take B6 for a while after my viral infections and found they helped me get a bit of energy back. I admit to never taking zinc but will look into that. I don't recall any blue deposits around the taps at all - ever. My son lives on a farm where the water is from dolomite reservoirs and I will ask him if he could have his borehole water tested. It will be interesting. The water used in the city does not taste very nice so I have been boiling it for years just to make it taste OK - that also reduces the lime content - but after it has left the pipes!. Judging by the stage of achalasia I was at when I was diagnosed 18 months ago I must have had it for many years. I was 24 when I had a barium swallow and then I only had a small hiatus hernia nothing else. I only had one or two choking episodes before I got diagnosed. It's funny now but I went to a cardiologist because I had very high blood pressure and palpitations. All his tests did not reveal any cardiac pathology. [it must have been the enlarged diverticulum and oesophagus pressing on my heart which was causing the palpitations] I was sent to a gastroenterologist because I complained about a horrible yeasty taste in my mouth and thought I had a fungal infection and reflux !! He missed the achalasia and sent me to a surgeon because I had a huge hiatus hernia. The surgeon did a barium study and found the achalasia and a diverticulum. The manometry was a disaster because the tube just curled around in the diverticulum. I was worse after the Heller and a Dor fundoplication (partial) (1 year post op) and in Feb this year had a dilatation. Now I can swallow many more things, but they sit there in the dilated E and ferment. I had been living in the Johannesburg area for 30 years at that point. If it is worse it is usually related to stress and not much else. I had only one chickenpox spot as a child when the rest of the class had chickenpox. I really got it with a vengeance when I was 27-28 when the kids had it. Both had it but not that badly - can't recall any scarring, but then I covered them with aqueous cream so that if they scratched it would not matter too much. It certainly is unusual to have chicken pox twice if both episodes were more than just the odd spot. I have had bad osteoarthritis for years and slowly spinal, knee and ankle joints have given hassles - that is also an autoimmune disorder. Bone density studies show I have +++ calcium - top of the scale. There was a poll done once about chickenpox - look on the A. website under polls - can't remember when - may be January sometime. Must go ! Got lots of work to do still tonight! Well water can be a source of radon, which would give the esophagus and stomach a dose. The thing about radon is that while it is an inert gas it quickly decomposes into radioactive heavy metals before you can rid yourself of it. Metals have been suspected in playing a part in a number of diseases. I wonder if some people are just more likely to have metals build up in curtain tissues than other people. There is a report from the University of North Dakota that claims that people with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease have ten times the amount of daughter isotopes from radon in their brains than are normally found. I guess you would have to test for the daughter isotopes. I am not saying there is a connection to achalasia, just that I am curious. Guest guest
Notan Hi, To be able to test for radon by Kinesiology you have to have a small amount to pure radon to test the person's sensitivity to it. We are still looking for a lab that can do the testing the conventional way. I will enquire radon when we do.
