Guest guest
Yeah Ginny!! I am so glad things look to be going great for you! That is the way it is supposed to be! This was such a great email for me to read, thank you!! You seem to be doing well. One night stay, and you are going shopping already? Wow, you must be one of those super-moms! You can’t eat the lamb-chops yet, can you? Hm… Glad to hear that the barium and all else went according to plan. And no straw? Wonderful! Yeah on such an improving outcome! Keep up the good work, Ginny! I look forward to hearing more in the future! Chilliwack, BC Surgery went fine in NYC Hi, I just arrived home from my lap. heller myotomy yesterday at Mt. Sinai Hospital in NYC. The surgery was as good as could be expected. I was eating solid food at lunch today after a barium swallow this morning. I have 5 very small incisions and hardly have any pain at all. In fact, I am setting out to buy the lamb chops for dinner tonight that I have been thinking about while on my liquid diet before surgery. My surgeon was L. Katz, M.D., who is in the same group as Dr. Salky, Laparoscopic Surgical Center of New York. The surgical residents at Mt. Sinai told me that they have 3 to 4 achalasia patients a month. Dr. Katz told me that although my LES was very thick, and my esophagus distended and sigmoid, the barium swallow showed complete emptying after surgery. I get the impression that a laparoscopic procedure works well for an advanced stage of achalasia. I didn't have any reflux last night, although I am taking Protonix 40 mg tablet, two times a day. Today was the first time in a long time that I have been able to drink a fluid without a straw. My daughter told me that this is the first time in her memory where I have been able to eat and talk at the same time. Ginny
