Guest guest
Hi Kris, I just wanted to let you know a short part of my story. I had my surgery in April and suffered with very severe spasms for a few weeks after. I didn't even know that there was medication that could help me until I came here and got involved with this amazing group. When I called my Gastro dr. and told him that someone suggested Procardia gel caps to dissolve under my tongue during a spasm, I had them in my possession by that afternoon. After learning that a number of the people were having long term success with the anti-depression medications like Paxil I called him back and told him about my conversations here. He told me that he used a lot of anti-depression meds to treat many different gastro problems especially ones that were a cronic problem for people. He didn't however deal with Paxil a lot.. His response was "Let's give it a try.. if it works than that's great.." He did tell me he was going to research it a bit before he gave me a script so that he knew how much I needed. He called back within hours and I had the scrip that night. I had one spasm during the first few days I started it and that was about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Haven't had one since. I'm not so sure I would still be dealing with a Dr. that doesn't want to try and help. Hope you get a good result this time. Deb NJ

Guest guest
, I also use Paxil for spasms. I am only aware of it's use as an anti- depressant anti-anxiety and soft muscle spasms. I'm not a medical Dr. but I don't think it's used to do anything for swallowing unless the problem is all stress related. In that case the drugs takes a number of weeks to work and I was also told that to treat aniexty and depression a larger dose is used than would be used to just treat spasms. I certainly would talk it over with your medical Dr. I did think you asked about treating the pains in your chest and I was assuming they were due to spasms!
