Guest guest
Hi, Carol, That is really huge that your A started acting up when you quit B-12!!! How about going back on it and letting me know if it makes a difference. I have looked into how B-12 could be helping and here is one thing I found. B-12 binds with sulfites (food preservatives) to form sulfitocobalamin, which is a larger molecule and harder to absorb. So the B-12 basically escorts the sulfite (potential irritant) out of the body. So I think perhaps this is one way it is helping me, because I allergic to sulfites and my last two A attacks were definitely from sulfited foods. I have no idea if B-12 does a similar thing with other potential allergens, but it could. There is a study available on PubMed on the sulfitocobalamin, if you want to check it out. Glad you are trying to figure this out! Martha Martha - what is B-12 sublingual Was just reading a note you wrote about themicrocurrent. You mentioned B-12. I took B-12 forabout 3 years for nerve problems with my arm andelbow. My A started acting up big time right after Istopped. Is there somewhere I can read more about the B-12?Obviously I need to do more research on A then I havedone. Guess it is just sinking in that this is a badthing that is not going to go away.=====Carol (aka Carol_in_VA and GrnEyesVA) ...If life gives you lemons, make lemonade... but if life gives you limes, make margaritas!! Guest guest
I didn't answer your basic question! Sorry! B-12 sublingual is a very effective way to absorb the vitamin. You buy tablets that are labeled sublingual and just put them under your tongue and let them break down/melt there. No chewing. No swallowing until 10 minutes go by (if you can). The vitamin is hard to absorb in the stomach, so it is a better route apparently. I will try to find a good site on B-12 info and send a link, OK? Guest guest
The ones from Trader Joe's ( here on West Coast) have a natural cherry flavor added to the sublingual B-12, B-6, folic acid combo tablets. The straight B-12 doesn't have any added flavor. The ones from Natural Factors (ordered online) really don't have any flavor. They just dissolve. Not bitter or anything, just not any remarkable flavor at all. BTW, I have not had one attack of Achalasia since I started doing the B-12 faithfully every day. That's only about 10 days, I realize, but 10 days without Achalasia is a good thing!!!!!!! Nothing else has ever helped me, ever, ever, ever. Too early to claim victory, but I am encouraged at this point. I even ate half of a sub sandwich last night and it went down!
