Guest guest
Hi Sandi, When everything closes, do you try crunching ice cubes? The motion seems to get at least liquid down. Sorry you are having a rough time. . RE: So many new things!
Guest guest
Hi Deb, I know that not everyone has the gurgling after surgery, however unfortunately I'm one of the ones that does. It usually only happens after washing my food down with water but it also will happen if I'm leaning over, kind of like if you were to turn a bottle upside down and all the bubbles rise to the top. LOL… What a crazy disease we have! My LES is closed up again so I'm scheduled for a 24 hour ph-study on August 2nd, and an Endoscopy w/ possible dilatation on August 10th which I'm not sure I will be keeping. Only if my surgeon is available in case I perforate again) It will be interesting to see if the gurgling stops after having a dilatation…If I have it. You have a good evening too! Sandi in No CA (2 years post-op) Boy, Stay away for 24 hours and there are a host of new questions and people in here. Mark, I hope by now you are feeling better just by having some of these people to talk to. I know they have each helped me so much after my surgery when I was feeling somewhat like you. My surgery was a success and I can eat almost anything I want. Any small problems are usually taken care of with a few sips of water. I did however have some very severe spasms that I did not have before the surgery and some other small issues. I really wasn't told what to expect and was scared out of my mind that this would be the way I would live for the rest of my life. I could't bare the thought. I came upon this group with the help of my daughter and have had so many answers to so many things. I know you will too. You need to have people to talk to and see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It might not be as bright as some others in this world but it can be bright enough to lead you through a very happy and fullfilling life.. even with " A " Jan, I'm so happy that you had a successful trip to TCC. I hope that your plans are made quickly and you will soon be on the road to recovery! It is nice to talk to a Dr. that has confidence in what he does and makes you feel like he can help! I felt that way about my dr's. (that is when I finally found them after 7 years ) LOL. I can laugh about it now but it certainly wasn't funny when I was bringing up part of every meal I ate. Welcome to all the new members.. I hope this group gives you the same wonderful compassion and understanding and education that they have all given me. Cindi, I don't think I have any sore spots.. at least not one of the dr's mentioned it. I still am getting the gurgling and feeling like air is trapped after anything I eat or drink. I am wondering if anyone else has had this after their surgery and if they have, has it gone away? There are days when I have it 24-7! Ok.. I feel like I've rambled too much Hope everyone is ok Have a nice evening Deb NJ

Guest guest
Hi , Thank you for your thoughts and for the suggestion. I’m not yet at the point that the closure is giving me problems, water still pushes everything down just fine but it is getting a little more noticeably difficult…I think even more so now that I’ve seen for myself what it looks like. Just a little trickle of barium was getting through and the birds beak is back, but the LES still opens up for me if I swallow hard and push everything through with water. I haven’t tried crunching on ice….hmmmm…..how can I say this….I’m “One of Those”…You know, the NO ICE types! LMAO…but if it gets bad , I *promise* to give it a try and see if it works! Promise. :-) Sandi Re: So many new things! Hi Sandi, When everything closes, do you try crunching ice cubes? The motion seems to get at least liquid down. Sorry you are having a rough time. .
