Welcome Lori. I think you will learn a lot by reading some

back post and the links which have been added to the sight.

One word of caution. Please research the Botox thing thoroughly

before agreeing to it. As Cindi said it does not prove to be the

best solution for most people. True, so people get good relief,

but not a very high percentage. I had two and they didn't do

anything at all for me. Surgeons will also tell you that scaring

from the Botox can make surgery more difficult and/or effective.

Just be sure you are well informed before making a decision. I

wasn't.

Lori - welcome to the group, I am very glad you found us. I have probably had every symptom you mention, including diagnoses for reflux and for a hiatal hernia, which proved to be incorrect.

I would highly recommend finding a GI doctor who specializes in swallowing disorders as soon as possible. Many GI's will recommend botox, but rarely is it the best solution for most people. Mine recommended it, but I had done enough research by then that I RAN to Hershey Medical Center for a surgical consult.

Ask your family doc & GI for recommendations to someone who specializes in swallowing disorders. Call the biggest teaching hospitals in your area and ask for the GI departments and then for someone who has dealt with A. Look, look, look until you find someone very, very qualified to deal with your problem. We all want you to have the best care possible because if you don't, you may suffer needlessly. What city are you in? Maybe someone here can give you a referral.

Many of the symptoms you have, I have had. Surgery (Heller Myotomy) has helped me tremendously and I strongly recommend it if you are a candidate. Keep us posted! Cindi in Pennsylvania
