I just called my insurance provider to get some

confirmation of

coverage....and they askd me what type of

achalasia I have. She said

there were listed three types, Cardiac,

Disenterial and something

else. Are there really different types?

She said my esophagus type needed written request

authorization of 25-

30 business days for surgery.

Hi Joy,

You need to indicate Vigorous Achalasia. It's not as if they perform a different procedure for each type, right? Phone your Doctor first, but Vigorous Achalasia is probably the answer you are looking for.

Of the LES there is Primary Achalasia, Secondary

Achalasia, and Vigorous Achalasia. Of other body parts there is also:

Achalasia of cricopharyngeal sphincter and anal sphincter achalasia.

There could be others.
