Dear Edwin,

I am so sorry to hear that Biancka required another operation. How horrible for your whole family. I sure hope the antibiotics work quickly and I will be thinking of her and praying for her full recovery. It's going to take some time, but with your love and support I'm sure she'll be just fine in no time.

Thank you so much for the update. I will be waiting for your "Biancka is much improved" update. Please reassure her we are all sending best wishes and thinking of her every day.

Biancka's condition 3

Hello everybody,

I have little time so here's a small update about Biancka's condition in the hospital.

Her condition has deteriated friday and saturday night. At a certain moment, no blood-pressure or pulse could be measured and I received a call to tell me that she was tranfered to medium care and that the possibility existed that she needed another operation. After bringing Jasper to my parents, I went to the hospital and after 1 hour in the car I received a call from a surgeon to tell me that Biancka was being prepped for the O.R. at that same moment.

He told me in the hospital that the puncture in her oesophagus had ruptured and stomic content had poured into her body. He told me he had closed the rupture and she was brought to the intesive care unit. She is still there at the moment but still under anestetic. She is on a respirator and gets lots of medication. Her condition is stable at the moment and very little steps towards recovery are made every day.

I'm staying with friends that live close to the hospital and I'm at home right now to get some clothes and send this message. I don't know when I'm able to send another update so please think about her and hope that she'll recover completely.

Greetings,

Edwin.

Edwin,

Thank you for keeping us updated on Bianka’s condition. I have to say I was afraid of

this happening after receiving your last post and am surprised that they waited

before taking her back into surgery since they knew of the perforation.

I also had a perforation during surgery,

but was repaired on the spot before they closed me up. There was still a small

amount of leakage afterwards and I was very carefully monitored for this leakage

and allowed nothing by mouth…not even water.

My biggest fear was to have a drainage

tube put in, but thank God, the leaking stopped and it was not necessary. The

drainage tube would have been necessary if the leaking had continued and now I’m

very concerned for Bianka because there was no

mention of drainage tubes, but am hoping you were just in a hurry and forgot to

mention this. As much as I had been so afraid of this for myself, I think it

would be necessary for Bianka considering the severity

of the leakage.

Please send Bianka

my love. …and let her know that I continue to pray for her recovery.

Edwin,

I'm really sorry to hear about Biancka. I will pray for her and hope

for the best. I hope she doesn't need to stay on the ventilator for

too long, but it may have to be because of the rupture. It would be

best to keep her sedated and pain free so that the new operative site

will heal.

I'm very, very saddened that she is going through this as we all can

agree that this is probably everyone's worse nightmare. All we can

do is pray and know this that youth is on her side as young people

have the strongest chance of making it through something like this.

God bless,

Jo

Edwin,

There is nothing I can say to convey how I feel. Have faith in the

Doctors and stay by her side. I will keep you all in my heart and

look forward to Biancka's return to good health. She'll be home soon

and things will only get better. I'm sorry you guys had to go

through all of this, but it will make you a stronger couple, I'm

sure. You, Jasper and Biancka will be in all my prayers.
