Guest guest
--- Hi , I don't know the medical reason but I certainly didn't laugh. I had my surgery 8 weeks ago and after a meal or a drink I get air trapped in esophagus. You can hear it gurgling. It feels like I need to belch.. something that has been really difficult to do since the surgery. I find that if I walk up and down the stairs I am able to belch and get relief. It's quite annoying! I'm hoping after time it will correct itself. If not, I guess I'll be getting a good deal of leg exercise! Guest guest
, This isn't unusual at all. Before I had surgery, I used to walk around the house and jump up and down! Anything to get the food to go down! says that horseback riding helps him! Glad to hear something is working for you too! Great news! The roses are beautiful! I smell them every day! :-) Sandi in No CA Do not laugh This may sound funny but it works When I am having dinner in my kitchen and something gets stuck I get a cold glass of water Might take a sip walk up the stairs to go to the bathroom [i do have one on the first floor ] Walking up the stairs make the food get unstuck and go down Is it the motion of my feet walking up the stairs???? Guest guest
Hi , I totally agree! Walking up the stairs, pretending to chew, crunching ice cubes, stretching arms, not talking while eating. Believe me, I've learned all the tricks. It doesn't hurt to post our little "tricks" once in a while. Also, there are those of us that could lose a whole meal just trying to have a cup of coffee. I can have coffee or food, but not both. I have my morning coffee and that's it. I spend the remainder of my day eating to maintain my weight. My ideal weight is 130 lbs. I'm 5' 7", and feel sick if I don't keep my weight up. I have a very busy house and spend a lot of my time snacking. Rarely do I sit and eat a meal. It's just too difficult. I am a happy, upbeat person. I've had Achalasia for so long now I've just adapted to my routine. P.S. My boys are leaving on June 26th for Fort Hope. It will just be myself and my three 13 year old girls and my husband. I will have total freedom as all three girls are fantastic and able to look after themselves. (I know I'm just dreaming, because as soon as Social Workers know I have two beds available in my emergency home, I'll have placements immediately.) ( Who finally got to plant all my flowers! No more frost at night! ) Do not laugh This may sound funny but it works When I am having dinner in my kitchen and something gets stuck I get a cold glass of water Might take a sip walk up the stairs to go to the bathroom [i do have one on the first floor ] Walking up the stairs make the food get unstuck and go down Is it the motion of my feet walking up the stairs????
