Guest guest
DJ, I will soon be 74...I was 70 when I discovered I had Achalasia. A GI doctor told me the same thing....love with it. I didn't walk out of his office, I ran. Went to UAB, a teaching hospital in Birmingham. AL....and was told there were a number of options to deal with it. FIND YOU ANOTHER DOCTOR. Good Luck Maggie Alabama
Guest guest
DJ -- You need to find an EXPERIENCED doctor, one who has treated dozens of achalasia patients. There are such doctors at The Cleveland Clinic (#1 for treating achalasia in the USA, #2 rated for all GI disorders combined), and there are others that I know of (from people on this board and published research) in Texas, at the Mayo Clinic, and in NY, CA, OR, and WA. There ARE treatments for the pain. There ARE treatments for the dysphagia. There is NO NEED to "just live with it."Debbi in Michigan I am a 74 year old male that is suffering from A. The doctors I have seen have said live with it. I have severe chest pains and hard deep belching. I have had this condition for two years and it seems to be getting worse. I live in Oklahoma and I am out of ideas. But I feel that somewhere there is help. Can anyone please help me! Dj
