Cindi, going back to sleep for the 5th time today! Ahhhhh..... that was actually sarcasm-ish. You see, the seminar was set up to be in " debate " format -- they did the same thing for the GERD portion. They would have someone get up and " prove " that his method was " the one " -- and then afterwards all the speakers would sit at a front table and they took questions from the audience, etc. They didn't really BELIEVE that there was " one and only one " cure for GERD or achalasia; it was designed to show the " extremes " in each case, when in fact each speaker believed in a much more moderate/conservative position. For example, the one just before Hunter was Richter's presentation: " Medical Therapy is Best " -- " medical " meaning " non-surgical " ..... Botox or Dilation. Well, obviously there have been NUMEROUS people in this group who have seen Dr. Richter and who have been referred on to Dr. Rice for a Heller Myotomy rather than a Dilation -- it was simply the format that was taken for the seminar to show the wide range of possible treatments, etc. And actually, now that I think about it, Dr. Hunter made a joke about how he was honored to be invited to speak at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Summit, and when he got his " assignment " title of " Surgery Cures The Disease " he thought he was being set up for a fall, b/c everyone knows that it doesn't! Wasn't he the one that said that, Sandi? Debbi, who really needs to get some sleep tonight, b/c there's hockey again tomorrow (but fortunately a HOME game!) Guest guest
Hi Cindi, I just have to say, I strongly recommend Nexium. I have never felt better. ( Now Pete's gloating! Yeah, more money for my company! lol.) Honestly, I was at a point where I dreaded eating. Now, I'm much more relaxed. No more "burning" pain. I drink a litre of 2% milk every day, and eat as healthy as possible, but I still have my good days and bad days. Stress is a huge factor. Wow, it's 12:30. Maybe sleep is the answer! This is the only time I have to catch up on all the messages I miss during the day. . Wasn't he the one that said that, Sandi? Ah yes…it was Dr. Hunter who said that Deb! There were actually a few instances where he had felt " set up " if I remember correctly. Those doctors were a funny group when they got down to those debate panels! Hey, did you find out if they found my voice recorder yet? I could kick myself in the butt for loosing that! Maybe I should give them a call and find out. I’d like to listen to it again…it was a long day, and I caught myself drifting off into la la land on more than one occasion, but at least I didn’t fall asleep and start snoring like that guy behind us!!! LOL Debbi, who really needs to get some sleep tonight, b/c there's hockey again tomorrow (but fortunately a HOME game!) (, be prepared to get an earful about hockey when you come to visit Deb! The woman is obsessed with the game!!!!) ;-) Get some sleep Deb! (I should talk. It’s midnight, and I’m just getting started on a paper that’s due tomorrow!) Guest guest
Debbi - Now that makes sense! I have certainly read that some people can really be helped a lot by myotomy, but never cured!
