Guest guest
My GI doc put me on magnesium as well & it was very helpful. Maginex (a brand name) is less likely to cause loose stools, but just the generic Magnesium helps the symptoms too! When I feel a spasm coming on, I often take 2 magnesium. I have more spasms when under stress or when I have PMS. Cindi
Guest guest
Hi , How good it is to hear something that is working so well! I keep thinking we must have some sort of deficiency or maybe we have multiple deficiencies. Why don’t they test us for that??? Isn’t it important??? I had mentioned that I had added protein whey to my diet, I’ve had a hunch about being glutathione deficient, but I started gaining so much weight from the added calories, I had to stop. I have an appointment with a neurologist on Monday, I have a million questions, and I won’t know where to begin. I just hope he knows what achalasia is…that will be a start! I’m wondering what it is about the Citracal that has cleared up the shoulder and back pain. I used to get shoulder pain but have found that doing upper body exercises have helped me the most. I’m willing to try almost anything to get rid of my back and leg pain…pilates helps me, but sometimes my leg burns so bad I can’t stand it and I’m starting to have difficulty walking. When I try to stand up, my right leg doesn’t work. It takes about 30 seconds after standing up before I can walk. I see myself following in my mom and my sisters footsteps and I don’t want to live like that. Well I’m going to stop now, before I get myself into too big of a funk. I hope the neurologist can help. I’m glad you’re feeling better; I was a little concerned after reading about the vasovagel experience you had. I hope that doesn’t happen to you again! I won’t be headed out your way as planned next month. We’re going to hold off until later in the year and take a nicer longer cruise. The weather is beautiful in CA. Time to go enjoy it! Sandi Gotta tell ya, I'm about spasm free on Citracal with magnesium and vitamin D I just love it when I follow a hunch for helping myself and it turns out to work for me! Don't we all??? A few months ago I was suffering from an increase in my spasms, irregular heartbeat, sore muscles, aching back, and a bit of trouble falling asleep. I read somewhere about magnesium helping with muscle spasms and decided to try adding it to my diet. I had not been taking calcium supplements (shame on me) and knew that I should be. I started to take Citrical with Magnesium and D twice daily, two pills in the Am, two at night. Every one of the symptoms listed above has cleared up. My spasms are about non existent...usually if I forget to take my night time dose for a few days. No more shoulder or back pain. Fall asleep SO easily, My heartbeat is never skipping beats anymore. No leg cramps at night, and I have more energy and I'm coping better. I told you guys about this back when I started it. The relief was almost instant. WIthin 3 days my shoulder pain was gone, and spasms subsided from the start of it. I just wanted to report back to you a few months later how this simple change has made such a difference in the way I feel. Best to all, in Houston
Guest guest
Hi Sandi, Sorry to hear about your leg pain and associated problems. Hopefully they will be able to figure that out and help you. Is it neuropathy? Keep us posted. I'm sorry you won't be coming this way! In answer to your question about why the citracal works...I think it is the combination of calcium with magnesium that does it. But magnesium relaxes muscle. Not to the extent that a prescription muscle relaxant does, but any means, but I just feel looser and better on it. You have to have vitamin D to absorb calcium, and you need to be taking the right kind of calcium... calcium citrate is the best one. Magnesium helps with muscle cramps, restless legs, aches and pains. I saw an infomercial on tv this morning for a product called " Calabsorb " . It's a powder that has vitamin D, C, Magnesium and Calcium Citrate. ALl of these people were giving testimonials about how their aches and pains, arthritis, restless legs, gastrointestinal problems, and insomnia went away on the stuff. That was what reminded me of telling you guys my update after continuing on it. It has a pretty immediate effect. After two to three days you would notice a difference, most likely, if it could help you. I noticed the first day. One thing about the calabsorb...its lemon-lime flavored powder that can be mixed into water, tea, or orange juice. So achalasians who wanted to try calcium citrate and magnesium but who couldn't handle the size of the citracal pills could take it in liquid form. I was tested for magnesium deficiency when I took my stress test, as I told my doc about taking it and how much it had helped me. I did not turn up deficient on the test, but I had already been taking it for a month. Who knows if I ever was deficient. Maybe I just need more than the average person to function well. He told me to keep taking it. Apparently I would have to take a lot more than the amount in the daily dose to have too much magnesium. This is a regular over the counter calcium supplement available in any drug store. THe informercial calabsorbe must be ordered on tv. Maybe they have a website. in Houston > Hi , > How good it is to hear something that is working so well! Guest guest
Hi I am so glad to hear that you have found something to help you! I am a little behind on the board - baseball and work have kept me pretty busy, but I also wanted to send congrats to you and your husband for the great news on his plays. You guys must be very excited! Are you on spring break this week? Our children are on break this week, and I am thrilled. We all needed a little break. Spring is popping up all around us - this is a great time of year. I hope that all is well there! Hugs
Guest guest
Back in my "living on oatmeal and Ensure" days, I used to get horrendous leg cramps, esp. in the middle of the night. These weren't a typical thigh or calf "charlie horse" though, they were on the SIDES of my legs, running from my ankle bone to my knee. I would wake up SCREAMING in agony, and the only thing to do is walk it out, clutching the walls and wailing. When I finally was able to eat better, they went away "all by themselves" and I now only get one of those cramps about every other year -- amazing how our bodies can rebel when we don't give them the nutrients they need! Unfortunately, nutrition doesn't seem to affect my spasm pains, but it did wonders for my leg cramps. Glad you found something that works for you, ! )Deb
