Hi ,

Glad to hear that you are feeling better, it's hard sometimes when you feel

lousy to keep that positive attitude but it helps. I know that in time you

will be much better, we want to be better now, but it just takes time. Keep

in touch.

Fitz.

Yes, I do remember the weakness, my hands would start to shake and I

would break out in a cold sweat. This still happens occasionally but I know

the early symptoms and I drink a sprite or a Gatorade and it clears right up

just as you related. When I was in the Hospital earlier this year I asked

my GI Doc. about the dumping syndrome and he thought it was more likely IBS

irritable bowel syndrome and gave me a medicine that I found out does not

work for men, so much for that. I have noticed also when I over eat, (which

I do believe it or not) I will get the dumping syndrome. My wife is a great

believer in alternative medicine and she put me on to ginger capsules which

I take twice a day and I think it helps, peppermint tablets as well. I don't

think they know what exactly causes what you are going through and what I

did, and occasionally still do go through. I have concluded that it is

because they have rearranged the digestive system in order remove the

esophagus. I should think that things should begin to settle down for you

soon, I certainly hope so. I do think you are right on about sugar, I have

always had a sweet tooth and when I have to much especially chocolate I know

I better not stray to far from home.

Odd, I had to go to the group site to find this message. I seem to be

missing messages these days.

The site about hypoglycemia may be educational, but such sites will

never replace your comforting, friendly way you have with those that

go through or face having their esophaguses removed.

I have found that if I eat a bready meal, like pizza, I will

experiance something similar to alimentary hypoglycemia. I believe it

is reactive hypoglycemia. However, the symptoms seem to hit faster

than reactive hypoglycemia should. I wonder if it is because I drink

a lot of water with it, which quickly dissolves the bread and so it

is quickly emptied from the stomach.

Anybody else?

notan,

Years ago I had a very bad viral infection and was ill for a couple of months. After this I used to get the same symptoms and they were relieved by eating something.

Tests for hypoglycaemia did not show anything abnormal, but then these were never done when I had a "turn". Even now I still get the feeling, but very slightly and always carry chocolate with me to eat when it happens.
