The wrong side of the road is something to watch out for at many beaches.

Often it is very heavy two lane traffic. In California you are sometimes

blocked by a railroad.

I have not been there in over 35 years, but it was nice.

They are nice. However, if I am not going to be on some kind of board I

prefer the Florida pan handle. The water is very clear and warm. The sand

is a very fine white powder. Generally less gloomy and cleaner than the

California beaches.

I have to vote for just about any beach in the Caribbean over any US beach (although I've not been to Hawaii yet, so I reserve judgment on their beaches, which appear lovely.)

Our plan is to retire to somewhere, ANYwhere, in the Caribbean. Better buy stock in a sunscreen company, huh?Deb, born to snorkel in tropical waters, but unfortunately living in a Winter Wonderland right now...

Deb,

I think you might be disappointed with the

beaches in Hawaii. The beaches are beautiful, but they are more of a golden sand, as opposed to the beautiful white powderery sand that you find on the coral islands of the Caribbean, but

still you would probably love it there, and the snorkeling is great.

Thanks for the heads-up, Sandi! Thanks to you, I can no longer think of Hawaii w/o thinking "welcome your ass to the board!" hehehe

Ah, who needs sand? Gimme a boat and a snorkel and warm water and I'm a happy gal! :o)Deb
