Guest guest
Hi Genia, I've had the surgery and even though some foods still take time to go down - they do go down and not up. With water and avoiding large chunks of bread or raw carrots, I do just fine. I had the same problem as you are having and I am so much better now. Guest guest
I have heard over and over by many Doctors That botox Is a waste of time If you are old real old [i am 69] don't feel old Or in poor health then you have no choose but take the botox route But if your okay surgery is the way to go I am an RN and come from a medical family Botox can cause scar tissues and does not last -- botox or surgery? what to do? Hi everyone,I haven't posted in a while.I have been busy with the doctor. I had a upper GI, gastroscopy, and a manometry(this one's terrible), within 3 weeks.Well, my husband went with me to the doctors appointment and now he hears and sees what I have been telling him. He is being very supportive. But he still can't fully understand. He doesn't want anyone to cut on me, but I am the one who has this thing. My question is Botox worth while doing? It is the least invasive but how long does it last? the doctor described the dialation, and that scares me half to death!I'm thinking either the botox or just go straight for the surgery. My doctor is absolutely fantastic and he is friends with the head surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic. Please help me out in making a decision? I tried looking in the archives but I can't find what I am looking for.The last few weeks have been absolutely terrible. I have to run to the bathroom every time I eat or drink, to expel what I just ingested.Thank you in advance!!!Genia in Michigan
Guest guest
First let me start out by saying that I decided to go straight for surgery and had my surgery in late October. My husband felt the same way as yours, until we went and talked with the surgeon. When my surgeon in Dallas, told him that he wished all of his patients saw him before they did botox my DH changed his attitude. I opted for surgery for several reasons after tons of research. First, our family is not complete. We still want one more child. I asked my GI, my surgeon, my OB, and even called the manufaturer of Botox and asked what would happen if I got preganant while the drug was in my system. All of them said the same thing. We dont know. We think everything would be fine, but no studies have been done. I did not want to be a guinea pig with an unborn child. Also, my surgeon said that the possiblitly of scar tissue which makes the inevitable surgery more difficult was enough to convince me to go that route. I have had ZERO problems since my surgery. Before, I was running to the bathrooms several times a day and having severe pains with every meal. Post OP no pain, no spasms, no bathroom breaks. I chase almost everything with water and have even eaten steaks, raw veggies, and bread with no problems. Just my story, but I hope it helps. Guest guest
Genia, Different people have had different experiences with Botox, but based on mine I would go for the surgery. I had about a dozen botox injections before having surgery and the improvement that I saw from the BEST botox was less than 10% of the improvement that I saw after surgery. I will be 4 years post-op in January, and everything is great. I can eat and drink anything I want now and have no discernible reflux (I had the myotomy with a partial wrap). My only warning would be to pick a surgeon who has a lot of experience with THIS surgery. I personally belive that the outcome is highly dependent on the skill and experience of the surgeon. Good luck, in Austin botox or surgery? what to do? Hi everyone, I haven't posted in a while. I have been busy with the doctor.
