People differ in how much scar tissue they produce from identical cuts.

Also, some scars get larger over time while others get smaller. Some of the

people here have reported problems with scar tissue after surgery while

others have not had a problem with it.

We all differ in how achalasia effects us, so the risk is different to each

of us. The main risk is probably from getting pneumonia from aspiration.

I was told that the main cause of achalasia-related death was pneumonia from aspiration. I suppose if you just never got any treatment at all, you could eventually starve to death, but you'd have to intentionally refuse any treatments.
