It's great to see how this group shares information and support related to our common affliction. It occurred to me the other day that it would be good for some of us to meet in person to put faces to the names on the list. There's a new site called " meetup " that you may have heard of. It's gotten a lot of press lately as some of the presidential candidates are using it to coordinate grass-roots volunteers across the country, but it's really just a service for linking up people with similar interests in a geographic area so they can meet and chat. I've set up an achalasia category at meetup.com. You can get to it here: http://achalasia.meetup.com/ The way it works is that you sign up on the site giving them your zip code to show where you're located. If enough people sign up in a particular geographic area, then those people get to vote on where they will meet, and then get together to meet each other. It's free and they don't require any excessive personal information. It might take a while to get enough people in any one area to have an actual meeting, but I think this would be a good way to augment the support and comraderie we get from the mailing list. I just joined www.meetup.com and although it told me that this month's meeting was cancelled because there wasn't enough interest, I signed up for notification of the next meeting. Kenya - you need to go sign up to so that maybe there will actually be a meeting in our area! I'll let everyone know if something comes out of this.
