Guest guest
I had my myotomy on August 20th. I am making a good recovery to this point. I am still on soft food (porridge, omelettes, milk shakes, mash potatoes etc.) till tomorrow (ten days after release from hospital). This is because the surgeon thought he had cut too deep and a perforation might form in the esophagus. Luckily that hasn't happened to this point. I am able to swallow without difficulty. I have had two spasms to this point. The first was the day after the surgery while I was waiting in the x-ray department for a barium swallow. The next was a few days after I got home in the night. I now realize that I hadn't been having spasms before the surgery just pain when food got stuck. The only other symptom I have is a bit of burping after I eat. I see the surgeon on the 18th and hopefully can go back to work on the 22nd. I drive bus for a living. I am looking forward to eating more solid food and anxious to see how I tolerate it.
