I am now a member of the Achalasics for Better Swallowing. My

primary task information sheet shows I am still working on a cancer

research project and I don't understand it all, but I am sure I will learn

as we go along.

I'd just like to say what a "rewarding" feeling it is to be a part of "The Smallpox Research Grid" project. I have just become a member of the team "Achalasics for Better Swallowing". I do hope that other members of our group will check it out and be able to join us as well. It's very fascinating!

Thank you notan for finding this program and putting it together.

By being a part of this project, "Our Team" is contributing to the acceleration of the screening process by using the grid to screen millions of potential anti-smallpox drugs, dramatically reducing the cost of the project. As a result of this project, hundreds of millions of molecules are being screened in "months", as opposed to spending "years" to screen hundreds of thousands of molecules.

Please go to www.grid.org to find out more about becoming a part of this research project, and becoming a member of our team, "Achalasics for Better Swallowing".

Hopefully we will get the message out about achalasia, and who knows, maybe they'll even begin a research project for achalasia!

Next page click on the team name. Next page click on the blue bar that says "JOIN THIS TEAM."I had to shorten the description and we are a few pages into the "A"s, not on the first.Master notan

I would like to point out that at the same time, the team is also working

on screening cancer drugs. In fact of the three computers I have here one

is at the moment working on smallpox, the other two are working on cancer.

If you have not changed the default device profile you can be given tasks

for either of the two research projects. If you prefer to be doing only one

project you can edit and create profiles. To do so go to device manager and

then to profiles. In the future there will probably be new projects.

BTW: the team has zero points in the stats listing. This is because stats

are updated only once a day. So, tomorrow we should see our stats begin to

climb.

What you can't see on the screen is the program takes the ligand and moves

and rotates it (poses) on the target determining where and how strongly the

ligand will react with the target. This happens so fast that it is not

displayed. All you see are models of the ligand and target. Reactions that

are strong enough are called hits. A ligand with lots of hits is what they

are after.

It looks like this only works on machines using some version of

MicroSoft Windows. If there were a Linux version, I would try to get

permission to run it at work (not guaranteed because we are very

sensitive to security issues).
