Guest guest
It's been about 2 years since my last dilation, and I've been doing pretty well, but in the last few months, I've developed a constant cough. My general doctor says it's reflux and prescribed Protonix. It seemed better for awhile, but now I cough often during the day, and during the night it is so bad I end up gagging and choking. It's not the same as the choking I had before. That choking felt obviously like food was going into my lungs. Now it's more like a nagging cough that gets worse and worse until I'm gagging. Anyone else have this, and know any way to make it stop so I can sleep? I already have the bed elevated.
Guest guest
Sorry to hear about your constant coughing. The symptoms of " A " are really a pain in the neck. I just got home after having dinner with my kids at TGI Fridays. Since I left the restaurant I had strong pain " Spasms " so I know how you feel about having this non-stop. Without having medical expertise, I know that one of the complications of " A " can be developed when the esophagus gets too dilated that food gets stuck for a long time. This may be the reason for the cough and the additional sensation of food coming up. I would recommend getting it checked. Without trying to make you panic one of the complications mentioned to me a while ago, was the risk of getting neumonia by absorption, which means that some residue of food gets to the lungs. I am sure that you are ok but get it checked. Guest guest
Hi, It doesn't have to be food getting into your lungs to make you cough. It can be your saliva, as well. I had that constant cough before my surgery. I no longer cough. Sounds like you either need another dilation or a myotemy. See your doctor, as you can get pneumonia this way. > It's been about 2 years since my last dilation, and I've been doing > pretty well, but in the last few months, I've developed a constant > cough.
