Guest guest
Hi Laurie: Oops - what a keyboarder!! I meant to refer to separation anxiety, you are right. SAD = separation anxiety disorder (and also seasonal affective disorder). These acronyms will be the death of me. Take care, aloha, Kathy (H) kathyh@... Guest guest
Hi Jeanne, Well, yes. Funny you should ask. I spent the first two weeks feeling very upbeat and that I was doing better each day and then boom, all of a sudden I am discouraged because I am not all better by now. I know that is silly. I still take Tylenol twice a day and have discomfort over the center and left incision areas and under the breast bone. I am still not wearing my regular pants. And don't have all my energy back. Tomorrow will be three weeks. Tonight we had roast chicken, creamed corn and a simple salad with just lettuce, tomato, tuna and Uncle Dan's ranch dressing with mayo and buttermilk. That worked fine. Last night's spaghetti did not. And I am drinking probably a gallon a day, that is so nice to be able to take more than just sips at a time. I saw the surgeon last week and don't see him again for three months, nor do I see the GI doc or my regular doc. What is your follow-up like? Kathy Washington Question for Kathy kathy, you and I are at about the same point post myotomy. Guest guest
> Kathy, I go back to work next week, and don't know what I'll wear...My abdomen is still very sensitive and sore around the incisions...I haven't seen the surgeon post op since he was away on vacation last week. I am seeing him tomorrow. I am still on soft foods...and drinking alot of water. I am taking liquid motrin once s dsy for discomfort. I have had a couple of incidences of difficulty swallowing after trying pasta also. Are you able to exercise at all yet, Besides walking? I keep thinking that doing some sit-ups would lessen that swelling, but can't do them of course. jeanne Hi Jeanne, > Well, yes. Funny you should ask. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, You mentioned that your 6-year-old had the same reaction when she was on prozac and now is on a mood stabilizer...............I'm assuming that she is now off the prozac?? Would you mind telling me how many mg's she was taking and how long she was on it before the ODD symptoms started? I'm a bit confused because my daughter was on prozac for about 2 years before these explosive behaviors started. I'm afraid to switch medications because it has helped her SO SO much with the OCD. If your daughter is off the prozac now, does she take something else for the OCD and is that an SSRI?? Dr. Chansky mentioned that the only way to find out is to lower the dose and see if the behaviors go away, but we've tried that in the past.........when we lower the dose her OCD comes back! Sorry to read that you had to cancel your weekend. I know the feeling. There are SO many things we don't do and so many places that we don't go. I just call them " casualties " of this disorder! Thanks so much for your help. Kath ************** Start the year off right. Guest guest
Kath, I will give you a short summary: MY DD (now 6), has always been oppistional in nature. She developed moderate OCD when she started KG. Because of this she was put on prozac. The OCD seemed to go away, but after about 8 months (during the summer after that KG year), she became more aggressive than she has ever been extremely ODD. It did not go on long because at that time we were in the process of seeing a new doctor. As soon as he saw that, he took her off and put her on risperdol, and then added triliptol. Which improved her very much.(both OCD and the oppositional behavior) She has a sister who also had a history of becoming hypmanic of SSRIs and her sister went thru about 5 of them with no cure for her and becoming very maniccy. I think she was on 10 or 15 mg's. Her sister (who also started w/ anxiety), was put on a much higher dose (up tp 30 mg's) and at this point her anxiety turned into trichotilomania, so we didnt want to keep younger DD on it at all. Let me know if you have other questions. Guest guest
Thanks Kathy, I want to gather as much info as I can before our apt with her psych on the 22nd. I think we need to get her off of the prozac though, not sure what he will suggest! Kath ************** Start the year off right.
