Guest guest
Ellen, This is from the webpage I posted: "BALLOON DILATATION — The principle of balloon dilation of the LES has changed little since Sir Willis treated his patient with a whale bone more than 300 years ago. Therapy is designed to weaken the LES by tearing its muscle fibers." Now tell me that does not cause scaring! JC
Guest guest
Athletes tear muscles all the time. After a bit of recuperation they're back in the game. A spreading of the fibres doesn't cause scarring. A perforation where it opens right up--that would certainly cause scarring. Guest guest
, do you mind telling me who your doctor is at UMMC?Debbi in Michigan (three endoscopic procedures at UMMC and probably half a dozen manometry tests there, give or take a couple) The doctor wants another manometric test. The last one did not get through the LES. Then, it will be the balloon dilation rather than surgery. What is that like? What am I in for? Guest guest
I'm sorry you have to have another manometry! That stinks. I can't say anything about the dilation, mine's scheduled next week tho so mabye I'll have some info then. I'm just glad they put you in lala land for it, that crap down your throat when you've already got a sensative gag reflex is just not cool. -Jess > The doctor wants another manometric test.
