Guest guest
, you ask if it the regurgitation occurred at the same time the problem started. Again we all seem to be different, but my problem started with spasms, then feeling as if I was choking when I ate and then regurgitation almost every time I ate or drank anything. This process on me took about 3 to 4 months. Good Luck Magg Alabama
Guest guest
Hi , welcome to this board. Swallowing and doing the simple things in life has just got hard for you. I'm so sorry. I would not wish this or any swallowing disease on anyone. From what I understand from your post, you are having difficulty getting stuff past your throat. Right? Your tongue and mouth muscles are seemingly impaired because the almost involuntary movement of chewing, sending food/liquid to the throat and swallowing is not working for you. Right? I have seen the video of a person chewing and swallowing and though it seemed interesting, it never occured to me that it would ever be difficult. For you, if something doesn't happen face, intravenous feeding will be your only option. For me and most achalasia patients, we can at least, get food/ liquids past our throats. What happens after that is our problem called Achalasia. The esophagus and sphincter muscle is our enemies. LOL. Your enemy is up higher: your mouth. Although when my "e" is full up, and my saliva juices are flowing, I cannot even send the saliva down because my throat won't allow me to swallow. I visualize the process the same way you did in your video. How sad for us all. I've had this condition since 1971 (I was 11) so, I've learned to live with it. My prayer is that you, (and us all) can get by until a cure is found... in Oregon
Guest guest
Thanks again to everyone who replied to my post. , you hit the nail right on the head - so far, my problem is basically initating the swallow. For the last 3 days, basically I've been only able to swallow probably a 1/4 teaspoon of liquids at a time. (Sometimes I'd even need to spit that out). It basically takes 25 minutes to drink a boost, but I'm grateful that I can get it down. Last week, I was doing pretty good (meaning it would take about 6 minutes to drink 8oz). I must have started getting greedy or something. I'm thinking that I may go in for a 2nd Barium test, but am afraid that I won't be able to drink enough barium to show anything. My first one was about 3 months ago, when I could still swallow liquids relatively normally. Do any of you have a problem initating a swallow of saliva at times, even if your E is empty? As for reading the absurd message that was sent to about posting on this site...I think whoever sent that needs to look for a support group for people who are jackasses. Thanks again, and God Bless you all. > Hi , welcome to this board. Swallowing and doing > the simple things in life has just got hard for you. I'm so > sorry.
