Guest guest
i have had achalasia since i was 16. am now 33, pregnant with second child... have had numerous dilatations, botulinum injections, myotomies and fundoplication. because of all of this i have a ton of scar tissue. i still have problems (mostly severe chest pain and swallowing difficulties). last year in july i went to mcv (medical college of virginia)to have my fundopliation taken down because it was too tight. while they were in there they were supposed to do another myotomy. they did procedure laproscopically (even though i was a severe risk) and perforated my esophogus. they didn't find the perforation for 12 hours. i developed sepsis and was in icu for 6 weeks. i have no memory of this as i almost died 3 times. now am trying to sue doctor for not doing the surgery " open " ... i am having so much trouble with " expert drs. " because everyone is afraid to get involved. this surgeon was wrong!! he knew that he should have done the procdure open and he didn't. he used his arrogance and i almost lost my life because of it. please, if anyone is going to have any surgery done after having had previous procedures, insist on having the surgery done " open " . the risk is too great!!!
