Guest guest
I don't have much time so I will make this short. The doctors office told me a few days ago that they earliest I could get an appointment for my surgery was at the end of October. I first complained about having " A " like 5 months ago and it seems to be getting worse. I asked them if they could get me in any sooner so they called today and told me that they had a cancelation for September 6th. I was so excited until i realized that is only 3 days before my best friend's wedding. It is really important to me that I go. It is a really small wedding on the beach... Just like 15 people... all family except for me. It is going to be really short and I don't think they are even going to have a reception. So I was wondering what the people on this site that have already had the surgery thought... do you think I will be able to go to the wedding? I think it will be ok... all I have to do is go and sit for like a half hour while they say their vows and that's it. It's just that I either have to have it on September 6th or I have to wait 2 ½ months. What do you guys think? Guest guest
Christy-- I know that people respond to surgery very differently, but I would have not been anywhere near able to attend to a wedding three days after my myotomy. I went to a conference three WEEKS after my surgery, and my doctors and family thought I was nuts! One way or another, I wouldn't put so much stress on yourself. Guest guest
Christy - My son had his surgery on Thursday morning and came home early Friday evening. Saturday was pretty rough - didn't really want to move much. Sunday was better - did roam around the house some, could have gone out with some help. Monday he was moving around pretty good, and we even went out to dinner. I would bet you could probably make it. (KS) christycali777 wrote: I don't have much time so I will make this short. My 5yo daughter had her op on a Wednesday and was discharged on Friday. She had pretty decent energy levels by then and had no painkillers after those given in the morning. On Saturday we had a barbecue with family and she played happily with her cousins; on Sunday a big family dinner and all the time she seemed very happy. Guest guest
Hi, I had my surgery on Aug. 7th, and I still have pain in my shoulders. There is very little pain coming from the five incisions. You may not be able to comfortably wear clothes if you go. On the ninth I rode home for three hours and went to bed. The next day, I was in bed all day except for restroom breaks. I think it would be much too soon for you to go to a wedding, but I am 65 years old too. I haven't been anywhere yet and my surgery was last Wed. I hope this helps you to make a decision. Bev.
Guest guest
Whilst I haven't had the surgery (yet!) I would say plan to go but explain to your friend that it might not be possible and please could people take lots of photos/video, etc. for you. The rate of recovery for any procedure will vary between any 2 people and it is unusual for adults and children to recover at the same rate. Take good care of yourself and decide on the day what is right for you. Chris
Guest guest
I had my surgery last november (not a complete success but hey I wont complain) I was in hospital for four days but was up and about the day after! I was kinda groggy from the anesthetic but had no pain or discomfort. two days prior to the surgery my Granfather passed away and I wanted to be home in time for his funeral the following Monday (which I was). I went to the funeral much to the dismay of my mother (she thought it was too soon after surgery and worried that too much crying would bust me open) I was absolutley fine! the walk to the grave side was a struggle but I just took it at my own pace and go there in the end. My advice is to listen to what your body is telling you after surgery, take things at your own pace! I hope that you are well enough to go to your friends wedding and have a great time if you do! If you are not well enough she will understand and I'm sure she would much rather you were getting the treatment you need. Guest guest
Christy -- I wasn't feeling too well the third day after my surgery -- I got tired very quickly and had a lot of soreness (pain) around my esoph/stomach area that made it uncomfortable for me to move around and breathe in deeply. My shoulders and back were also in pain since I wasn't able to use my stomach muscles when moving around. I wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere, but for just 1/2 an hour you should be fine. Good luck, -- (California) >From: " christycali777 " <christycali777@...> >Reply-achalasia >achalasia >Subject: My best friend's wedding..... >Date: Tue, 13 Aug 2002 00:28:39 -0000 > >I don't have much time so I will make this short.
