Guest guest
Just hang in there . My surgery was changed in the middle to the open procedure. I had a lot of pain but trust me, it does go away eventually!! Best wishes to you for a speedy recovery! Like I said, just hang in there! Guest guest
-- I read your posting of your postmyotomy experience with interest. First, let me express my very best wishes to you. I hope that you are having more good periods each day. Second, may I suggest that you subscribe to Medscape? It doesn't cost anything, and you can find quite a bit of medical research about achalasia here. Using Medscape does require that you register online (via a process that I found a little cumbersome), but once you're connected, you have access to a lot of information. You can find this site at http://www.medscape.com. Vicki Roth >Hi all, Although I haven't posted much, I try to read all and have learned >alot from you. Guest guest
Hi , In one of the surgeries I had fluid had formed in the cavity on the other side of where my surgery was, it was extremely painful until they used a long needle to suction the fluid out. A great relief. I don't know if this could be part of the pain your having, I would thing not as they should have been able to detect it. I know it's tough but it will get better, and soon I hope. Guest guest
One big difference I noticed between my myotomy and others, is that I had no drainage tubes at all. Although I did with previous abdominal surgeries. I spoke with my doc this evening and he is concerned because most of the pain is internally. So, he is going to see me on an emergency basis in the morning. He seems to be concerned aboout infection. I am not able to eat anything at all without excruciating pain. We'll see what happens, I'll let you know. Thanks, >From: Fitzgerald <edfitz65@...> >Reply-achalasia >achalasia >Subject: Re: My myotomy >Date: Mon, 19 Mar 2001 12:19:56 -0800 (PST) > >Hi ,>In one of the surgeries I had fluid had formed in the >cavity on the other side of where my surgery was, it >was extremely painful until they used a long needle to >suction the fluid out. We can't wait to hear all the details, and I am sure you have been well versed on everything that is going to happen. This must be a slow time of year for you... I am anxious for your analytical summation of the surgery... it should be exciting... Let me be fhe first to ask, where are you having the surgery and by whom?? Don't forget your Teddy Bear!
